What do you do when you are contradicted?

A lot of the time I will show some interest and say something like "really? I hadn't heard that, what I heard was..." and continue on with what I had been saying to at least get my point across. I don't like to tell people they are wrong when it is obvious that they are convinced they are right and I don't like confrontations so I probably would let it go.

What if you are talking and they just come out of know where without being invited into the conversation and without really knowing the whole story..then ..what do you do;)?+

I have had this happen to me and I just ignore them or say "Excuse me, did you say something?" It is annoying when someone butts in on a conversation and says something negative about what you are saying or tries to provoke you. It is okay for people to disagree with your statements but it is how they approach you and their tone and voice and manner which can be annoying. Maybe they do not know what you meant or misunderstood you as well but still I think it is rude for someone to jump in like that without permission.

You are so right..I do try to ignore them if..it's the first time..Sometimes though, there are those who have the habit of doing this. They feel they are the authority of all conversation and then point out their view as though it's the only one and without invitation..I try so hard not to say anything ..I bet steam comes out both ear from all the pressure building up;)+
