Messaging frustrations.

April 16, 2007 5:57pm CST
On more occasions than I think is excusable have I typed out a response to a private message and submitted it only to realise at a later time that even although the site has went through all the motions that the message has not been sent and it is almost like it never existed. Does anyone else find this or know a way to overcome it as it can be very frustrating to have to try rememeber everything that I said only to sit and type it out again. The second time it j ust never seems to come out the same. Are other people noticing it or is it just myself.

oh that is so frustrating isn't it!?!? You spend all that time writing something out and then it doesn't send and then you write it again and it ends up being half of what it was before, and doesn't sound the same. Yeah. I have had that happend several times. I really hate when that happends.

It happened to me not that long ago. I wrote out a message to my friend and I put alot of thought into it and when she didn't reply I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting one and then I suddenly realised what must have happened so I checked my messages and sure enough. I retyped it out but you are totally write, it was half of what it was. I think in future I will copy and paste just in case I need it again.

I don't send that many private messages but the only time I've noticed a problem was human error - Ok, I tend to be doing 20 things at one time most of the time and will type out the message, preview but then forget I have to tag and submit it... If I could just stick with it till it's done I wouldn't have a problem. I have heard of a lot of people having this problem though typing a long message and then it not going. I'm wondering if it could have something to do with firewalls. I know I have that problem often when I get too chatty on responses - my firewall locks up and when I hit post it's gone because of the lock.

LOL - no, not calling you daft - calling myself that, I might mention, I was born blonde so when I have those moments I blame it on my blonde roots :) If you had a firewall you would know what it was, program that stops other computers from finding your computer. It seems new Windows programs come with a built in one but I don't know anything about it as I've used a seperate one for years... Basically, I hide from the world behind a firewall :)

I had this problem before and started a discussion about it but everyone thought that I must be doing something wrong and no one confirmed having the same problem :( It seems like I was the first one to have it then it started to happen to other people later on, I don't send much messages now so I'm not sure if it still happens or not, but what I do now is I copy my response before sending so i can paste it again if the message disappear and doesn't show in my PM history after I submit it.
