Do you watch what you eat?

Food Galore - Do you watch what you eat?

Modern medical science has opened the eyes of many that we need to watch what we eat. Our intake should be on a range, counting calories, fats, proteins ... etc ... to the point that guilt is sometimes there when we eat. So do you personally watch on the things that you eat? Or do you just pig out and practically eat anything?

I have been watching what I eat more now that my daughter is eating what we eat. I feel it is very important to set a good example for her. Eating fast food and junk food all the time isn't going to set a good example and is just going to make for a picky eater. Right now she is young enough that she wants to eat everything we eat. So I have made sure we eat plenty of healthy fruits and vegetables. I'm not so bad that I count calories but I do try to keep a balanced diet.

so true. children emulate their parents and this include diet. its hard to motivate children to eat the right food if they see you doing the other thing.

Yes I watch what I eat but I don't count calories as I am too lazy for that. haha! For example I ate a lot of sweets today I will not eat anything too sweet the whole week or eat lots of fiber rich foods the next day. I can eat anything but not get fat, still I don't like to take advantage of that gift for I know that everyday I age and my metabolism will eventually go slower as day goes by.

I try to watch what I eat but, alas, I frequently fail in my goals. I have to watch out for salt since I have high blood pressure. Ever notice how much salt(sodium) is in everything? I also try to limit my portion size. Rarely do I take a second helping. For a while, due to money problems we bought some cheap (88cent)tv dinners from walmart. The food is ok and the portions small. I actually lost some weight. Not much variety though. Sigh.

I do try to watch what I eat, but I also try not to diet. I fond that once the idea of a "diet", enters my subconcious all I can do is think about the things I'm not supposed to have. For example, I rarley eat donuts...I probably have only 2-3 a year. However as soon as I think "i'm going on a diet" I have a huge mental battle with myself everytime I walk past a Dunkin' Dounts :-) Instead I just try to adopt healthy eating habits and make an ongoing lifestyle change rather than a short term diet. For example I now eat much more whole grains than I do white flour. That said, if I want some white bread or white rice one night, I will have it...I just make sure to keep the portion low and to not have it every night. Same goes with cookies, or chips...I don't deny myself, but I don't eat the whole bag like I used to. I have found that a little portion control can go a long way. I also really like vegatables so it's easy for me to pad my food with more veggies. Then I feel less guilty for an occasional splurge.

I am trying to watch what I eat nowadays. I am focussed on trying to lose 50 pounds and have already lost 8. Its taken a little while to get back into the exercise but the hardest thing I'm finding is trying to cut back on the foods. Trying to eat a little more healthier, adding more veges and fruits in my diet and cutting out all the take-outs, ice cream, cookies and stuff that my hubby and kids eat LOL.

I watch what I eat. I don't eat fried foods because they are bad for you. I eat a lot of fruit because I like the taste all except coconut. I love vegetables and steam it to keep in the nutrients. So there is all kinds of good healthy food that tastes good so I watch what I eat but I still have plenty to pick from to have a good meal.

I do watch what I eat, and try to get enough proteins and as little carbs like potatoes, bread, pasta and rice as possible.
