rjscott started a new discussion called How Much Time Would You Spend on MyLot if It Cost $6.95 Hr? in mylot.com.

I don't know how many of you, if any, remember back when the average cost to be online was $6.95 per hour. But that's the way it was back in the '80s and well into the '90s. Back in 1996 MSN offered a service for $6.95 per month that included 5 hours online time with each additional hour (over 5) at $2.50 per hour. In 1998, AOL offered a plan that was $4.95 a month for three hours onlin...

Great story, WR, and well written. Yes, I can understand how Anne would believe that the guys really loved her. My own Mother, Anne, also ... was married at age 17 to my dad, who would commit suicide less than 14 years later, leaving her with two young sons to raise. She also was from a small town, had a Catholic upbringing.

I don't feel that I'm either normal or abnormal. I like to think of my self as a unique "me." I try to be fair to myself as well as to others. I'm uniquely me. I can be angered and I can be made to laugh. I'm uniquely me. I like to visit empty churches where I can pour out my thoughts to the God of my youth in private, rather than amid a group of people who interrupt my thoughts with i...

P1ke, at home I'm something of a slob too, always wearing little else than a pair of torn-off jeans and deck sneakers. When I "dress up" to go bike riding, it's always in freshly washed and ironed shorts, a "jersey" shirt and a pair of sandals. Not terribly formal, but neat and clean. I can honestely say that in the nearly four years that I've lived in Florida, I haven't worn a suit or tr...

That's why, in any narrative that mentions my Mother, you'll note a hint of the special love I had for her. She was an amazing woman who never, EVER complained about the huge responsibility she had placed upon her when my dad died. You might want to read my Mother's Day tribute to her, posted last Sunday. That will give you a BRIEF look into a tiny woman with the biggest, dearest heart in th...

rjscott commented in a discussion called Gay Marriage vs. Civil Union in life.

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my original post. I'm curious what the DIFFERENCE is between a civil union and a "gay marriage." If a civil union provides the same advantages that are enjoyed by heterosexual couples, why the need for a "gay marriage"? I'm reading them to be two different things. Is it because of the ceremony (tuxes, gowns, flowers, bouquet tossing, bridal/groomal dance, etc...

Yes, I do have trouble distinguishing between a "civil union" and a "gay marriage." You say they're the same thing but you add, "in my opinion." OK, my question: If a civil union will guarantee 100% of the rights of heterosexuals to gays/lesbians/transsexuals ... why is the term "gay marriage" used as a seemingly different entity? Will a "gay marriage" offer MORE than 100% of the rights o...

Well said, Nova. Let me say up front that I am 100% for equal rights for gays/lesbians/transsexuals, etc. I just could not settle in my mind what a "gay marriage" would accomplish that a "civil union" would not. If a "civil union" would guarantee 100% of the rights of heterosexuals, what additional rights would a "gay marriage" add? That is what I was not able get into my rock-hard head. ...

So THAT'S what's become of the girl of my dreams! She's become NovaTaylor! There is NOTHING I enjoy more than seeing a woman who LOOKS like a woman, soft and frilly with a well-turned calf that's enhanced by a pair of stylish heels. Yeah ... soft and feminine. That's it! And, maybe, just maybe, smelling of fresh lavender or Estee Lauder?

My Fear and Loating of Snakes

All my life I've feared and detested snakes. As a child I remember my brother Steve had a fascination for them to such a degree that in the heat of summer he would tote a one-gallon bottle with...

Gay Marriage vs. Civil Union

I've Been Exonerated

Some may recall the saga of my tax refund where the IReffenS "garnished" my 2007 tax refund and applied it toward a nonexistent $5,000.00+ underpayment for tax year 2005. After nearly a year of...
