| my activity | sierras236 responded to a discussion called Rick Santorum's position on birth control and abortion: Clear as mud!!! in politics. 1 day ago Nope, won't hurt him. It will be some other issue next month. It is a President Obama issue because the chances of this particular mandate being struck down by the Supreme Court are fairly high based on their previous rulings about the First Amendment.
But then President Obama is doing exactly the same thing. He is a Christian (no, not a Muslim) and yet, he issued this mandate. Isn't it goi... | | sierras236 responded to a discussion called The lie about "equal access" to birth control in politics. 1 day ago Some of my basic arguments apply here.
1. Someone has to be paid to make it.
2. If a company has to shell out to cover pills, it makes it more expensive to insure women. Which hurts the chances of a woman getting hired.
3. It will raise insurance prices. Broken promise number 15356 by President Obama.
4. It can eventually lead to shortages because drug manufacturers will be unable t... | | sierras236 responded to a discussion called We hold these truths to be self-evident... in politics. 1 day ago It is ironic that you said that. That line was written and passed while slavery was still a practice.
News flash. Humans aren't perfect.
Ironically enough, even our Foundering Fathers knew that Happiness was for the most part temporary because even they could not guarantee it.
As far as social change, it takes time. It takes generations for meaningful social changes to take place. | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called Religious Conservatives in politics. 1 day ago Really, when are you actually going to post sources to back up what you say instead of saying just google it. It really doesn't help your argument at all. In the political world, if you make the argument, you have to back it up.
If you look deeper, the argument isn't really about birth control. It is about President Obama dictating that a company/business has to provide something (birth cont... | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called Religious Conservatives in politics. 1 day ago That's a very good point Taskr36. Just because they are getting it for free doesn't mean they are actually using it. | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called Religious Conservatives in politics. 23 hours ago Because some people are just hateful for NO Reason. It might not even have anything to do with how they were raised. It's like the kid who had the most supporting and loving parents and tons of friends, who still turned out bad. Who knows why they turned out like that? | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called The lie about "equal access" to birth control in politics. 1 day ago Actually, what he is asking is that the insurance companies cover all of the costs of birth control pills. In other words, he wants to hand them out for free. The problem is really one of cost for employers and insurance companies. So while the pills themselves maybe free, there are very real cost consequences as a result for the individuals. This includes such things as higher insurance premiu... | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called The lie about "equal access" to birth control in politics. 1 day ago Yes, most do have some type of coverage. What I am talking about is the insurance companies that have co-pays on birth control pills. The President is talking about taking away these co-pays and that alone will make insurance rates rise for the simple fact that the costs are no longer shared.
Another thing to think about is that most insurance companies tend to bundle people together. This m... | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called The lie about "equal access" to birth control in politics. 21 hours ago Nope. It is about being free. It is more about the money than the Religious argument. You see the back story behind this is that insurance companies themselves are not exactly thrilled at the process. While they haven't had as much media attention, you can bet they are crunching the numbers on this.
You are hearing the Religious argument because that is the current media fixation. No offense... | | sierras236 commented in a discussion called We hold these truths to be self-evident... in politics. 1 day ago I wouldn't call it hypocrisy. I would call it more an idealistic hope for their future country. Our Founding Fathers did have some insight and I think that they knew that social changes wouldn't be immediate and that they would take time.

Apparently, the paying down debt idea started with a Republican Congressman.... | | | | So here is a very doable list that I want President Obama to accomplish. In fact, he would garner much more support if he actually accomplished at least two of these things. The only reason I didn't... | | | | I know how most of you feel about Social Security. But this discussion is about the Payroll tax cut or the Social Security tax cut as it is otherwise known as.
Normally, I am for tax cuts.... | | | | I wonder if we are actually getting caught up in a political time warp of the 1960s. Think about it.
