unusualsuspect responded to a discussion called The first thing you did when you joined Live Journal. in livejournal.com.

It's been so long since i joined that I don't remember the first thing I did. But finding a community to join and picking a theme were probably the first things. There weren't as many features when I joined, like the Writer's Block, and I don't really have any interest in them. I just blog, read my friends' posts, and look in on a couple of communities. Every once in a while I get really bo...

unusualsuspect responded to a discussion called Whats your favroite book in this trilogy? in his dark materials.
I don't have a favorite because i consider them all one book, just like Lord of the Rings. I suppose you could just rread any of the three and it would be enjoyable, but they belong together because they're all part of the same story. Whenever I'm in the mood to read it again, I start with The Golden Compass and go straight through. That's the way I always read series if they're about the same ...

unusualsuspect responded to a discussion called eHow delete almost everything I got!!! in writing.
I can understand how frustrating that is for you, but to be honest, sites like eHow aren't for practicing your writing. They're paying for quality and judging by this post, you're not ready to provide that quality. They should have a better system so that articles are checked for grammar, etc;, before they're published instead of letting people keep writing and then find out that their articles...

unusualsuspect commented in a discussion called No payment for Sunday. A new Mylot thing? in mylot.com.

I know that updates are sometimes delayed, but it's never been more than a few hours, for me. I never got my credit the first time it happened, so I think I have pretty good reason to worry about it happening again. If I don't get it, I'll contact them. Or just decide not to post anything on Sundays.

unusualsuspect commented in a discussion called my lot blogs in blogging.

That doesn't make any more sense than the original question. Everything you need to know about blogs is in a link at the bottom of every page. If you have a blog anywhere on the internet, and it's been up long enough and has enough content, you can apply to have it listed on Mylot. It may help you with getting new readers, but that's all it's for.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the family thinks or wants, if she's not interested, leave her alone about it. Tastes change as you get older. If you treat her like a child who needs to be forced to do things, that won't change how she feels about it. For many people, xmas just isn't that important. For all you know, she never cared for it and just went along for the family's sake, and is ti...

unusualsuspect received a best response in the discussion Divorced people should marry other divorced people? by remaster74.
Your friend is entitled to his opinion, but there are no facts to back him up. Whether two people are going to be happy together has nothing to do with whether one or both of them has been divorced. There are plenty of happy marriages where one person has been divorced, and it's the other person's first marriage. I have no idea wht he means by completing a circle, but it sounds like something h...

unusualsuspect received a best response in the discussion bonnet rippers! by jb78000.

Bonnet rippers? That's pretty funny, but also sort of pathetic when you think about it. I've only read a couple of romance novels -- that genre isn't of any real interest to me, and once you've read one romance, you've read them all. What's notable about them is they they cater to a very specific interest -- or maybe tittilate a specific interest is more like it. But no matter how much people g...

unusualsuspect received a best response in the discussion Any vampire fictions or series worth reading? by AmuletGirl.

From what I've read about them, the Twilight books are for teens/young adults, so I don't know if you'd want more adult stuff. But Ann Rice's books are fascinating. There's a whole series around Lestat and other vampires. Laurell K. Hamilton has written a series about Anita Blake and her involvement with vampires. Very well written and intense. I haven't read all of them, but I really like t...

unusualsuspect received a best response in the discussion Do you like to write about people, ideas, or nature? by AnythngArt.
I'm much more interested in ideas than facts. I do write about people's behavior, but as part of general behavior patterns, not as individuals. Mostly I write to work out my own ideas and explain complex topics that people want to know more about. I don't think that says anything about my personality, but it does say a lot about my mind and how it works.

Has your writing ever been stolen?

I just found one of my blog posts on a site that pretends to be a news site. They had a link back to the original, but it's still theft because they used the whole post, word for word, and without...

Indoor winter garden

I'm going to experiment with growing salad vegetable indoors this winter. I live in an apartment and I really miss being able to get out and garden, and I'm tired of house plants. I have plenty of...

Will there ever be a perfect browser?

I use two browsers, Omnieweb and Firefox (for the Mac) because neither one completely fills my needs. My idea of the perfect browser is one that works on every site, and has modules you can add and...

I have blogs on wordpress.com, Blogspot, Squarespace, and Live Journal, and I just started one on Vox. I've been on Vox before and it has its good points and its bad points. I enjoy blogging, but...
