Many so-called obsessions could also be called "interests" -- for instance, collecting all the different editions of Uncle Scrooge comics doesn't sound all that unusual to me...it just means you're a big fan of the comic. Of course, if a behavior is truly uncontrollable it's obviously something more than just an interest. I'm not convinced that obsessions are necessarily bad, though I can understand why it might be liberating to not feel compelled to do certain things. On the other hand, if you think your obsessions are part of what makes you you, why change if you're not hurting anyone else?
