Yes friend, our life depends upon our eating and proper intake. I agree with you there are guidance available for avoiding fast food and go for regular nourishing diet. With the improvement of technology and awareness among consumers there are improvement in fast food recipe also. I would like to share some for you
"Fast food restaurants have added many new healthy options. Most fast food restaurants and restaurant chains post nutritional information about their food offerings on their web sites. Visit some of the sites to determine your choices are. If you decide what you can and should order before you arrive, it will make it easier to avoid the less nutritious, higher calorie options. Also, pay attention to changes in the menu and new offerings because many restaurants are finally starting to pay attention to the demand for healthy options. Many restaurants try new items out before they add them to the menu permanently.
When choosing, be aware of highly caloric additions such as salad dressings, cheese, sour cream, etc. Sometimes, making your choice healthier is as simple as removing the condiments. For example, ask for a grilled chicken sandwich without the mayonnaise. Many restaurants are making progress and offering alternatives like salads with low calorie, fat free dressings, or grilled chicken sandwiches on whole wheat rolls, but if they don't, see what you can do to make your choice more nutritious and less fattening. Some healthy fast food choices include:
Some Healthy Fast Food choices
* Grilled chicken or fish sandwich
* Whole wheat rolls
* Fruit or fruit and yogurt
* Baked potato (with vegetables instead of cheese, butter or sour cream)
* Salad with dressing on the side or fat free salad dressing
* Single hamburger (regular or children's size)
* Low fat deli sandwiches on wheat bread or on pita bread
* Wraps on whole wheat tortillas (without dressing)
* Fat free/ low fat milk or water"Eat healthy and live longer.

HI FRIEND, i agree with you many fast foods groups are not having healthy items with them but things are changing for the better. I am sharing interesting article how chefs are responding to new challenges on healthy fast foods.
"Chefs Respond
In 1993, Steve Ells, a classically trained chef, founded Chipotle Grill. It started as a humble burrito shop with a simple concept: “Offer a simple menu of great food prepared fresh each day.” Ells’ sales model was successful because he ensured his food was fast and fresh. Now Chipotle Grill has over 40 restaurants throughout the nation. While Chipotle offers some items that are high in fat and calories, there are still benefits to their food. Chipotle Grill uses fresh unprocessed ingredients, which are an important source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that traditional fast food items lack. Chipotle serves romaine lettuce, a dark leafy green eight times higher in vitamin A than the iceberg shreds that McDonald’s uses on their sandwiches. Chipotle also uses organic, free-range meat unlike the traditional chains that serve meat products loaded with chemicals and preservatives.

Thomas John, formerly of the acclaimed Indian-fusion restaurant Mantra in Boston, was recently appointed executive chef of Au Bon Pain, a New England-based bakery chain established in 1978. He explains how this company maintains concern for their consumers’ health. “Au Bon Pain is always trying to find out how to make a product healthier. We have a nutrition board including doctors and public health personnel that meets every quarter, and we participate in a round table with the Harvard School of Public Health.” Au Bon Pain rejects using dangerous trans-fatty acids and bakes its bread with only organic ingredients. Each store has a “nutrition kiosk” that provides patrons with a nutritional breakdown of every item on their menu.

Staircase at Spice Market On StarChefsFerrán Adrià, of El Bulli fame, recently opened Fast Good in Madrid, Spain. It’s a fast food restaurant that serves quality fresh, local ingredients, without preservatives. Some food is prepared fresh to order including hand-cut fries cooked in olive oil and burgers made from hormone-free veal. These quality ingredients make the meal a little more expensive (almost $10 US for a burger with fries). Healthy fast food is becoming a necessity in Europe now. The obesity epidemic is spreading throughout the continent as American culture, with its high-fat, high-calorie fast food diet, continues to influence Europe. Thirty percent of Spanish 10-year-olds are overweight; double the 15% for American children of that age. Fast Good, which has only been open a year, plans to expand to South America and then to the US within the next 2 years."

I totally agree with you. The little decisions we make can eventually add up to a difference of thousands of calories in a matter of weeks. Imagine the difference it will make over a year! Or over a decade!

Hi friend, here are some of th tips to make use of available healthy stuff in fast food restaurant.
"Take heart. Healthy eating at a fast food restaurant is possible. Here are some tips:* Skip the extras on your burger. Don't go for the sauces, cheese or bacon. Instead choose lettuce, tomato and onion. Your best bet, however, is to not eat hamburgers at all or eat them only occasionally.
* Don't order foods with the words "double," "ultimate," "big" or "monster." Fast food restaurants have new products using these terms. Skip them or you'll be munching a monstrous dose of calories and fat.
* Ask for a salad instead of fries. Use low-calorie or nonfat dressing and don't add Chinese noodles or tortilla chips.
* Choose salads that have lots of greens. A Caesar salad is a good choice. (You don't have to use the Caesar dressing that comes with it.) Also look for salads with veggies such as broccoli or tomatoes.
* Order nonfat milk or water instead of soda.
* Instead of a burger, get a baked potato. Just don't load it with sour cream, butter or cheese. Ask for these on the side and use sparingly.
* Choose grilled or broiled foods. Many restaurants offer grilled chicken either on a salad or as a sandwich. Some even offer deli-style turkey. These can be tasty and a leaner alternative to burgers. Just don't order them smothered in cheese or creamy sauces.
* If you choose a fast food pizza restaurant, opt for hand-tossed or thin-crust pizza, avoid meat toppings, and eat only one or two slices.
* Get the fruit cup, which some restaurants offer to go along with meals or in kid's meals.
* Skip the yogurt parfait. These can be loaded with calories.
* Chew your food slowly. It takes 10 to 15 minutes for your brain to register that your body is full. Don't feel compelled to eat everything.
* Ask for Nutrition Facts information from the restaurant. The store should either have them posted or have a brochure. You can also check the restaurant's Web site."Healthy food and healthy living
