My Best Answers | | Do you ever read through your 'best answers'? I'm a member a couple of months now and I've just checked my best for the first time - never bothered before. the thing is i'm kinda annoyed! many of the posts i've answered to are well thought out and considered. yet all the answers on my 'best' list are c**p! people have chosen all the crappy one liners/ smart answers as the best response. do i need to have a look at myself?

I've been given a couple best responses when I thought my response wasn't that good, but on looking back at the discussions, the otehr ones were even worse.
It's also possible that sometimes people are giving you best response because they are your friends, or just because you agreed with them, or wrote something that led them to a new way of thinking on the topic, whether you meant to or not.
I often am disappointed when I don't get best response for a really good post, but then when I look at the discussion I realize either the best response was given to a friend of the original poster, or that there really was a better response than mine. I guess I've learned not to worry about it so much.

MCMLXXV (433) | 3 years ago | yeah, i just did that lecanis. i'll give you the worst example: the answer to the post would have taken me an hour to write and i can't copy & paste so i explained and gave a link. the author complained that 'anyone can do research' and promptly gave me a best response! what the hell was that all about!?!

lecanis (7212) | 3 years ago | Weird, very weird. In that case I'd say it's the other person's issue, definitely. I think a lot of people don't put much thought into choosing a best response.

MCMLXXV (433) | 3 years ago | only one of many. in another i completely disagreed with the post, they got annoyed then gave me best answer. maybe they thought the mark was for 'worst answer'. i don't mind so much - just thought it strange!

Like you, I have been disappointed when I spend a lot of time replying to something and I see that someone who replied with one or two lines got best response. It's not that I respond for a 'prize' but it does suck to feel like I wasn't taken seriously.
I think that this sometimes happens because some people give Best Response to their Friends. On the flip side of this, I have often been surprised when someone I don't know gives me a Best Response. It's a nice feeling to know that I somehow connected with them for that moment, even though I may not have a clue why.
I would like to know why someone chose me for Best Response, but most of the time there are no words included with a BR.
For the most part, I haven't a clue why people give Best Responses. I've had several given just because the person said I made them laugh. This is funny, because several times that this has occured, laughter was the furthest thing from my mind.
I've learned to be grateful for the moments my words mean something to someone, even if it's just for a good laugh. The BR's are basically just something fun to get from time to time.
