Vinegar for nail fungus  |

 Over the years my husband has used expensive topical meds, lamisil (which is potentially very dangerous and can destroy your liver-- it cleared up his fingers but his toes are still bad and rip and are painful), and many, many topical natural treatments for nail fungus, but while searching on the internet I found one that is soooo cheap and actually works. Fill a spray bottle with half distilled white vinegar and half water and use it twice a day. I put it by the toilet so when we are sitting, with bare feet, we can remember to spray and amazingly new clear nails are growing in. My poor son is 9 and has two totally black toenails and they are now growing in clear. Try it!

I have just about given up because I have tried everything. I went into the doctors and he said that the only thing they could do is tear the nail off and then inject some antibiotics into where the nail is. I am not willing to let them do that. Maybe once it starts hurting bad enough I will but not at this point yet. I will try the solution you have here and see what happens. Thanks for sharing.

And be sure to get under the nail or soak in half and half water. Took my son to the doctor today and she confirmed that he was growing in healthy nail and warned it will take up to six months, but it is worth it. Good luck | |

I have never heard of that; but my mother has a problem with thick, yellow nails so I am going to try this...it sounds so simple and economical....if it really works the pharmacy comapnies will not want us to know this one!! LOL

I noticed the other day that I have 2 nails that are very thick and starting to discolor so I am sure that I will be trying this shortly.

When I asked about the pills for fungus my docter suggested using Vicks instead. I tried but that stuff just makes me cry the vapors are so strong.
Vinegar at least smells better and maybe I can wear sandals again!

If the fumes bother you, be sure to put the Vicks on and under the nail, then put on cotton socks and go to bed. Between the cotton socks and your sheets and blankets covering your feet, you won't notice the Vicks fumes. Of course you have to use dish soap or something to get the Vicks off your hands so you won't smell it.

I have a question about the vinegar... What do you mean by 'distilled' vinegar??? We have "cleaning vinegar" and vinegar for consumption. The latter you can buy in all kind of variations, but I am sure you need the plain one. The cleaning vinegar we use to get the calcium out of the water kettle and the coffee maker and so on... Can you tell me what vinegar exactly? Great tip, by the way...;-) | |

| iansmom24 (31) | 2 years ago | I use distilled white vinegar - heinz is the brand but it doesn't matter. You could use apple cider as well, but it is the same vinegar I use to make pickles with! The cheaper the better as apple cider vinegar, organic, unfiltered costs a fortune . Make sure to do this for six months religiously. My son was at the doctor today and she confirmed that he has healthy nail growing in. She mentioned 1/2 water and bleach or 1/2 water and hydrogen pyroxide as working well for some people. Also, be sure to keep cutting the nails back to expose the fungus. | |
