I need ideas for 6 year old birthday party!!!!

For the food, you could get little baskets and put on a kind of buffet thing with chicken nuggets/goujons, some alphabet chips etc, They can then help them selves. FOr after the hot/warm food, you could get fruit pieces such as banana or apples chopped up in a bowl. My son loves these fruits.

Here are some great ideas for finger foods and a cute recipe for a sherbert punch just for kids and grownups too. It's easy and not at all expensive.
Mini hands love mini food. Cut sandwiches into fun shapes using cookie cutters, and make mini burgers and bagel pizzas.

For dessert, dress up your cupcakes with food coloring. Sassy colors turn plain vanilla cupcakes into a fun-colored treat. Serve mini ice cream sundaes in plastic cups to control portion size and keep spills to a minimum.

Orange Sherbet Punch (serves several)

• 4 cups chilled orange juice
• 1 cup milk
• 3 tablespoons sugar
• 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1 cup chilled sparkling water
• 1 quart orange sherbet

Pour milk, sugar, orange peel and nutmeg into a large pitcher. Pour sparkling water into orange juice mixture and stir to blend. Scoop sherbet into large glass punch bowl. Pour punch over and serve immediately.

You can serve this fun treat.

1-2 boxes of trix cereal
2 cups carmel ( to melt)

Just heat the carmel in a pot stir in a dash of cinnamon, and brown sugar. Afterwards poor the ceral into a serving dish, casserol or whatever you want and poor the carmel mixture onto it. Stir it with a spoon or tongs. It ready to serve afterwards.

now for party ideas, you should do pink or purple. lots of balloons and streamers. You can serve hot dogs, and hamburgers they're fast and easy. You don't really have to have a main course, just cake and ice cream is good for kids. You could order pizza's or actually have the kids help you design and make your own at home, it might be a fun thing to do together.

I have found for my daughters parties that they dont' really eat much int he way of sandwiches or crackers or things like that.

I found the most popular foods were rice cakes, crackers, crisps and fruit kebabs.

My husband and I have always just put out veggie trays for the kids. They don't have to be anything fancy. Make sure the veggies have dip though. Kids seem to want to eat more veggies if there is dip. I used to do the whole entree and cake and ice cream and snacks and stuff. It gets really expensive. We also had a lot left over. Now, we do veggie trays with dip and have little left over and it's not that expensive. Also, you don't want anything with too much sugar in it if you want to keep your sanity! Kids turn into total monsters when they have had too much sugar. That's why I limit the sugar to the cake and ice cream and that is at the end of the party. I'm really into themes for parties. If I were having a fishy party, I would serve Goldfish crackers along with the veggies. Last year, we had a Hawaiian party. We made a fruit tray with strawberries and pineapple and a pina colada dipping sauce. For the veggies, we have found that carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, pickles and black olives are what the kids eat. We use ranch dressing as the dipping sauce. I love doing kids' parties. My family is always telling me that I should go into business. Oh, and I have also found that the local dollar store has some really good decorations. There were several years that I went to the dollar store and found decorations and that was my theme for that year. I know our local one always has princess decorations. That includes the plates, napkins and table cover. They also usually have bags of plastic forks, knives and spoons. I try to make the games fit in with the theme as well. If it were a princess party, you can play pin the crown on the princess. I make a lot of my own stuff. I'm by far an artist. Just do your best and have fun!

By the age of 6 my children knew exactly what they wanted to do for their birthday parties.
They were the ones who told me what to do.
For one we had a "Sub Party", I bought some submarine buns, cut up lettuce and assorted vegetables and bought some cold-cuts. Some juices and a little pop mixed in, coffee and tea for the adults.
It wasn't glamorous but it was fun for him.
One of the adults thought I was cheap, but I didn't care it was for him and he loved it and had a lot of fun.

In our place, it is common practice to leave everything to a caterer who will take care of preparing the food and setting the tables and chairs, etc. It is hassle-free and all you need to do is tell the caterer what kind of food you want to be served and for how many people. I notice that in our country, kids have certain food preferences like spaghetti, chicken joy, cakes, ice cream, hotdogs and only a few would go for salads. Another practice is to have separate foods for the small ones and another set of foods for the adults and this can be quite expensive.
