Gifts in a Jar - Homemade Bath Salts

I do not know of a single woman who doesn't just love to soak in a tub after a long hard week. Here are some simple ideas to make bath salts for someone special. I use them as Mother's Day gifts, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, when someone is sick, just because, or even in my gift baskets. Mothers-to-be really like getting a little something special for themselves during a baby shower. I always add some to those baskets!

I must be a freak becaue I take a bath everyday. I dont really like showers. hey maybe that should be a topic?

That sounds like a good topic to me! LOL I like to take a long soak in the tub about once a month. I am a shower person because I get up at 5AM and am out the door by 5:30AM and so that is all I have time for in the morning.

Are you a mind reader? I was just wondering what to make for my mother for Mother's day. Bath salts are a great idea. I plan to make a few extras and keep them on hand for birthdays, etc. Thanks for the link!

You are very welcome. I gave my mom some when she was up here when my granddaughter was born. I haven't sent her any since. I need to find a nice large jar and fill it up for her rather than using a small jar like I have on hand. I will want to decorate it kind of frilly as my mom loves to dress up and is really into clothes, etc. Me, I am a tomboy, but I do love anything that is Victorian looking!

I am learning how to make them, but I am not sure how to properly store them. I am looking for inexpensive jars to store them in. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I really do not know if sandwich bags would work. I am also into soap making and am thinking about selling bath salts and soap together. I make the small bars of soap. I have a simple recipe myself and if anyone wants please let me know.
