Ever wanted to be a musician? What instrument would you love to master?

I was in a taxi on the way to wok this morning and listening to the radio. For some reason I started to think about musical instruments and how I would love to be able to just kick back sometimes and play my own music. The more I think about it, the more I believe it would be extremely soothing and therapeutic to be able to do that! As for instruments, there are two that I have always wanted to be able to play (well four actually!). I have always wanted to be able to play the saxophone for some reason, the flute is a close second; and I would love to be able to play the piano or the guitar so I could sing along as well if the mood took me! Anyone else have a dream of being musically inclined? What particular instrument or instruments would you like to be able to play?

I have the fiddle on which my grandfather used to play the song I was named after. I am teaching myself how to play it (sometimes, hehehe). I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to wear my green velvet bell bottoms and play Liberty on the fiddle! I love bongo drums and cellos too, but I don't really have the desire to learn them like I do the fiddle.

My Grandmother's second husband (RIP) played the fiddle and I when I was a child and he was out in his garden I used to sneak it out from his cupboard and try to play it! I was very, very bad! lol. There is an amazingly soulful sound that can be made with a fiddle or violin and those that are proficient at playing one are to be commended because it takes literally thousands of hours to learn how! Thanks for responding.

I thought at first you were saying that his name was RIP! I was getting ready to tell you that my grandfather's name was Pappy, hehehe. But of course you mean he is 'resting in peace' right?

Ohh..., nice topic. Well, it's just that i've been content with just strumming my guitar at home. So, I dream of playing my guitar more better so that I could make it a point to play better. Another one is my vocal chords. I dream of singing good but then it always gives me frustrations. I wasnt able to practice a lot of singin with guitar coz i only have my voice not from the diaphragm.

Practice makes perfect! I too once got "involved" with a guitar but never stuck with it. I did however used to sing! But that was a long, long time ago and like many things, if you don't practice you get rusty. The way I see it is this, if you gain personal fulfillment from singing and playing the guitar then all is good! We can't all be rock stars or world renown artists! But we can certainly get better overall if we practice. Thanks for responding.

I would love to play the harp eversince I saw a concert by a Japanese musician. He was so good and the music is just out of this world. Also, I would be happy to learn how to play the piano and the guitar...but it seems like I am the only one who love music...but music doesn't love me...=). My husband plays saxophone and my toddler is learning how to play the piano. They both have good ear for music.

Wow! A saxophone, harp and piano will make for a very interesting concert! I like the harp also. It is very ethereal and has an amazing sound. Always associated with Heaven! Thanks for responding.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life! All I can say really is that it is something you have always wanted to do, then go for it! We are not all born with talent; but we can certainly learn to become talented! Good luck and thanks for responding.
