Is it just me or are car alarms annoying??  

its a little sad. i mean, i always look out for my own car alarm, my husband actually works with car alarms so i've heard it all. they're meant for anti-theft and some people just have the sensitivity of it just too high to a point where the wind could set the damn thing off. my sister just had a problem with her's where she couldn't get it to turn off and of course the car wouldn't start either so she couldn't take it anywhere. that might be the case. normally, if the alarm goes off for that long, probably somethings wrong with the alarm itself or maybe someone is actually trying to break into the car...who knows.

I do not think that anyone even notices them going off, other than being annoyed by them. It really defeats the point of having them. I do not think that most people are too worried if they set one off, because it is so common to hear them going off so often that no one even cares anymore.

I find car alarms irritating especially when they are going off a long time. It is even more annoying when you are trying to sleep.

Yes, I find them quite annoying. Everytime I go to the store and I step too close to a car, then it will go off, and will just keep going off. very annoying.

they do sometimes annoy me when they keep going off and wont shut up.but other than that they are ok till they start aggervating me.

Yes they are annoying. I dont know why people have them now. They dont even check when it is going off, and people dont look nowadays because it is so common, false alarms and alarms going off all the time. I know I for one dont look.

Half the time when I hear them go off I just wish they would steal the car already so it will stop. It hurts my ears and my head. They really don't serve any purpose now. Unless someone sees another trying to actually steal the car most ignore them. They've just heard them way too often to care about them anymore. Yes at one time they were unique enough that people did care but now? I don't think a day goes by without me hearing one in the neighborhood.

But I think that you're correct that no one pays attention to them anymore. Every one seems to have them, and they go off all the time. I think that I could break into a car with an alarm sounding if I was in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve, and no one would even pause to give me a second look.

They are handy, however, for when you really can't remember where you parked your car, and you hit the panic button.

Yup, they are annoying. Yup, they do hurt my ears. And yup, they're more often ignored than not.

Yet, it's difficult to ignore the most favorable feature of a car alarm, which is the insurance discount!
