Does where the Buterfly live determines its colour?

Your observation is absolutely right dear friend! Its not only the butterflies if you watch carefully the life forms which doesn't have any defensive organs do need to hide them from their natural enemies or predators.

But then if they hide themselvesxall the while how they are going to live in this wor;ld and survive? Thats why they tend to develop theirbody colours matchiung their surroundings so that they are not immidiately noticed by their natural enenies! This is called as "Camouflage" effect! This this has been learn from the animals by the Human being and the uniform provided to soldiers wich have leaves and some brown strips makes them hodden in the field when viewd areally or from a disstance! This Camauflage helps them to hide tem selves while not actually hiding!

There is another thing in nature called as mimicking, where the life forms which don't have any defense mechanisms copy the colour pattern of some dangeraous creature! That means they just mimics so that the natural enemiewxmay mistake them for the dangerous ones and leaves them!

Nature has provided many ways of defense to the animals and the fact you quoted, 'Camouglageing " is one of the simplest and effective way of protwecting oneself from natural enemies!
