This therapy is very useful in the treatment of bone related diseases. It is becoming popular widely now. Even the doctors recommend it. My mother is undergoing this therapy. She has been benefitted also. Thiugh we do not know whether the effect will be permanent or not."The PEMF therapy has received good response from several medical quarters and some are carrying out research on it. Escorts Hospital and Sports Medicine Department of Guru Nanak Dev University in Punjab have shown interest," he added.

Vikram Singh Yadav, sports medicine specialist at Guru Nanak Dev University, said that apart from pain relief, the technique was beneficial for treatment of osteoporosis as well.

"Through this technique we measure the blood pressure in the legs, which helps to indicate the state of blood circulation. It examines in which part of the body the arteries are blocked and blood circulation is not taking place properly.

"We send electromagnetic pulses through the veins which clears the blockages," Yadav said.

He said the blood pressure in the leg should normally be 20 to 40 percent higher than the pressure in the arms. If this pressure, called the Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI), is affected it could lead to osteoporosis. It also helps to assess the functioning of the circulatory system.
