What zombie movies did you watch? | | During my life (which isn't that long:D) I have seen many zombie movies. Here is a list of what I recommend and ones I don't recommend (unles you're a huge mega zombie fan). -First of all, George A Romero's "Dead" series, which include "Night of the Living Dead" (1968), "Dawn of the Dead" (1978), "Day of the Dead" (1985), "Night of the Living Dead" remake (1990) and "Land of the Dead" (2005). For any true fan, these are the base movies, as from the first appearance of Night of the Living Dead, the zombie genre has been reinvented by George Romero, and brought to a new apocalyptic vision. You will find extreme gore, horror, cannibalism, survivalism and social commentary in all of them. A new movie called Diary of the Dead is about to come this year. All George fans are waiting for it (especially me:D ). -Lucio Fulci's movies, especially "Zombie" (or Zombi 2, or Island of the Flesh Eaters, and so on...) tend to have the same Romerian vision and apocalyptic vision. -For the modern fast or running zombies fans I recommend "28 Days Later" and "Dawn of the Dead" (2004), a non-related remake of Romero's Dawn. Plenty of gore, and scary running living dead for your taste. Also there is going to be another unrelated remake of "Day of the Dead", which from thee trailers seems to have running zombies too. -"Rezident Evil" was really good, even though it doesn't respects the original lineup of the game. -Somehow the "Evil Dead" series is related to some kind of demonic zombies. Overall, it's still a great movie, and if you want a couple of laughs, watch Army of Darkness (who doesn't like walking skeletons?:D ). -"The Last Man on Earth" (1964) is an interesing turn on the zombie genre, in which the shambling zombies have vampiric characteristics. Other zombies movies I recommend are parodies like "Return of the Living Dead" (most of them, but especially 1 and 2), "Re-Animator" and "Braindead"(1992). Lots of fun and lots of zombies (especially Braindead with the classic priest line - "I kick arse for the Lord!"). I also recommend "Dellamorte Dellamore" which is a great parody, but also a deep-minded philosophal movie, describing the life of a zombie hunter hired to keep the dead from leaving a cemetery. "Shaun of the Dead" is also a masterpiece, because it has many jokes on the Romero universe, parodising every aspect of his movies. A cheesy but funny movie is "Bio Zombie"("Sun faa sau si" in Hong Kong). It's a nice parody turn-up in asian style. I don't reccomend:-Many of the italian zombie movies are poor, one of them is "Virus" (1980) (or "Hell of the Living Dead"), which beside having the same soundtrack as Dawn of the Dead, doesn't has anything special (just plenty of gore), "Notti del terrore, Le" (1981) also not recommended, and others. -"Rezident Evil 2". Well actually, this is a matter of taste. They deviated a little too much from the first one, but it's just an opinion. Any comments are welcomed.

The latest zombie movies tend to get a lot better in detail and such, although it could use a bit of the gore it had in the past.

DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Yes, the gore is not what it used to be, but that wouldn't much of a problem. I think the real problem nowadays is that there's nothing original anymore. They remade Night of the Living Dead for the third time (Night of the Living Dead 3D), and all movies tend to be remakes of something from the past. Originality is being lost...

| | 2. 5000ml (1836) | 3 years ago | I was going to say that I'm not much of a zombie movies fan, but then I realized that because of my boyfriend being a huge fan I actually have seen my fair share and have liked several a lot too. My most favourite are Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later, but I also love the Evil Dead series (especially Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness) and Braindead. I've also seen Bride of Re-Animator which was excellent and I really want to see Re-Animator. I've also seen the first three movies from the "Dead" series by Romero, I thought they were good, but not exactly my taste. Lastly, Dellamorte Dellamore is such a great movie! I really loved it, it's excellent.

Zalvor (583) | 3 years ago | I remember a funny scene, I think it is from one of the Evil Dead series; the cops investigate a place, only to be eaten by zombies, and you can hear on the police radio "Do you need reinforcements?". The zombie approaches the radio and announces something like "Yes, we need more cops! Send all the reinforcements!"

DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Well, I'm glad you would like to see the movies before the 90's, but beware, you might not be very impressed. The "New Age" technology has brought alot of high tech FX to the movies, so you might be a little dissapointed. But if you're a real fan, and see beyond the low budget and special effects, you might see the ingeniosity of the creators.

DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Well, there's been alot of debating on the 28 days movies, and theoretically it's not a zombie movie, because the subjects are only virused and their mind is just altered (leading them in attacking other humans), but they're still alive, so still being alive doesn't make them "the living dead":D. But they're still great movies;)

Shaun72 (11881) | 3 years ago | yeah I was reading another article that said the same thing that they aren't zombies in 28 days.
