How Old Were You??? |
| |
| How old were you when your parents let you go out in public wearing make-up? Did you have to have your parents aproval? The reason I am asking is because my hubby and I went to Walmart to get a friend of ours a birthday gift. When we picked it up and went to the till to pay their was a lady and 3 girls with her. All 3 of them were between the ages of 4 and 10. Also all 3 of them were wearing makeup and honestly if they were my daughter I would not have let them out in public like that. Remember Mimi from the Drew Carrey Show? They looked like mini Mimi's I sware it looked like a mini clown convention! My hubby and I then agreed that our now 11 month old can't wear makeup until she's a teenager, and even then it has to have our approval. Do you think that is being too strict? Hope not! | | makeup | | | | |

| | i started in middle school, i think thats a good age because thats when girls are going thru puberty and starting to lose their self esteem and gettng to experiement with makeup made me feel SO much better about myself. I'll let my daughter start to wear it in middle school too...maybe like 7th and 8th grade? I cant believe a 4 yr old was wearing make up tho, thats crazy! Its like sexual objectification of a very young child! | | | | | | |

| | Hi rarrimalion, thanks for your response! I could not believe it. Their were three girls like I said and I'd guess one was 4, the middle one was 6 or 7 and the oldet 10. I think even the oldest (10 year old) is too young for makeup. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was 14! I think that's a good age. Not sure how old my daughter will be, but it will be while she's a teenager anyhow, not a 10 year old. | | | |

| | thats not too strict at all. my mother didnt let me wear any kind of make-up until i turned 16yrs old. and then i could only wear foundation, powder, blush and mascara. and she showed me how to wear it so it looks NATURAL!! which in my opinion is the one talent young girls these days dont work on. they want to look like little hookers or fashion models with far too much makeup on for everyday use. | | | | | | |

| | Hi CinderInMySoul, thanks for your response. I agree, girls now a days have the makeup caked on or they either look like a hooker or like they should be in the circus (clown). I would never let my child go out in public looking like that. I always thought makeup was supposed to look natural too or accent features not be one big mess! | | | |

| | I agree, those little girls seem a bit young for wearing makeup. I'd be willing to bet that their probably into modeling. I was about 15 before I was allowed to wear makeup. I was only allowed to wear it "lightly". I don't think your hubby and you are being too strict! Although, you'll probably have a better ideal to what's right (wrong) when your daughter is a little bit older. I think a lot depends on the maturity of the child... | | | | | | |

| | Thanks so much sharon, I agree. The maturity of the child is a major factor, and I'm glad it's not being strict. I just want her to use a little if she even choses to wear it at all. | | | |

| | Thanks for your response little_angel. I'm glad to hear we are not going to be too strict on it then. That is good to know. I want her to wear the natural kind of makeup too if she choses to wear it. I'd hate for her to look like those girls at Walmart, uggghhhh! | | | |

| | My sister was around 13 when she'd try to sneak out wearing makeup and my parents were not happy about it. I was never interested in makeup and stuff like that. Why should I have to paint up my face just to impress people? I'm 25 and I've never worn makeup in my life, and I never will. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for your response danishcanadian. That is great that you don't wear makeup. I hope my daughter is like that. I mean if she wants to wear a bit sure, but I hope she doesn't paint her face up like a hooker and be expecting for me and her dad to just let her go. Not gonna happen! | | | |

| | LOL My mum would have been thrilled If I had wanted to wear make up at 16,she would have been showing me how to put it on etc. I never have worn any and never will. My daughter didn't wear any until this last year when she turned 16. At school we had 2 girls who came into class aged about 14 with eye make up on. Everyone was sniggering all the way through the lesson because they looked so ridiculous. | | | | | | |

| | Hi mihimolly, thanks for your response! That is great that you don't wear makeup. My only hope is that either she won't want to wear it at all, or she will want to wear it so it looks natural at 20 lol. | | | |

| | Hi sweetsue, thanks for your response. I am hoping that she will be like that. Either not wear it at all or only on special occasions and just a little bit. I know she is going to be beautiful because she is now and I don't want her to ruin that by putting a bunch of crap on her face. | | | |

| | I don't use makeup. I couldn't be bothered to. I prefer to sleep in more than waking up earlier just to have time to use make up. Even now at 22 I haven't ever used make up yet. The only make up I use is lipbalms and ocassionally lip gloss. The only time there was makeup on my face was because someone put it there like when I need to get ready for my sister's wedding or when I was my cousin's bride's maid. | | | | | | |

| | Hi evelynlyp, I am a light makeup user. I use lip gloss and mascara because I have very small eyelashes. The only time I really put it on is when I go out in public. Other times I wore more then that were for weddings and such. | | | |
