Do You Only Pray To Your God If You Want Something? And What Do You Ask Him?  

No I do not only pray to God when I want something but I pray always that may God's will be done in me. I pray everyday but not too long but a short honest prayer of a person always in need of God's grace and love.

It is normal that we are in trouble or doing somthing important in our life, we turn to god and ask him to help us. It depends on our education.
I know that every child in israel learns the bible in school for 12 years, so from the age of six years old, we learn that god is always there and has always helped, and as closer as we feel to him, we do ask him for help at difficult and important situations.

I know that i do find myself talking to god, when i have difficult situations in life. I am not a religious person, but still, i do that.

you are suppose to praise the Lord way before you ask him for anything. you really have to remember how important it is you do that. because asking means nothing with out telling the Lord how wonderful he is

I talk to God everyday, I thank him and praise him for all that he has done, and all the he is going to do. I pray for all our families, and friends, I pray for people here (some inpeticualr that need it most) but I do pray for all here. There are times that I do pray to God for help, like financial, medical, but I normally pray for other people.

You shouldn't feel guilty because when we in need something, we will focus on it more, and it is natural.

I think the big point here is you have faith in GOD every day, not even when you need something so he can understand.
With me, i always pray to GOD everytime i go to sleep because i find myself relax when talk with him and when i want something, i do ask him more, more, again, again many times :P.
And he always pay for praying.

That is an interesting question as we are supposed to pray over our meals, as soon as we get out of bed in the morning, before we go to bed at night and we are supposed to have a prayer in our hearts all the time.

I was raised to pray alot but most of my prayers are done in sectret. I dont think we are suppose to let everyone see how often we pray. However prayer over food and at church is done in public quite often.

No, I would never ask my Heavenly Father for material possessions.

i am just wondering why you have two kinds of prayers, one is "shallow" and the other is "deep". don't get me wrong bro. when ever we pray we are actually talking to Him with all honesty and sincerity, isn't it? whether it is a thanksgiving or petition we should pour them out from our hearts, in fact God "sees" our hearts and even before we ask something from Him, He knows already what goes in our minds for He is all-knowing (omniscient God).

No, Jmanzano, I don't just pray to God to ask Him for things because He says in His word that He has given us all and that He all ready knows what we want before we ask Him.
This morning I praised and worshipped Him and thanked Him. I always say to Him that my footsteps are ordered by the Lord and He delights in everyone of them.
Just like we don't just talk to our parents when we only want something we should honor our Lord like that. And tell Him that we love Him and need Him and we give Him all the glory and honor and praise!

Prayer is very personal and I don't think there are any right or wrong answers to this question. For me, I try to remember what someone told me once "If you imagine God listening to everyone saying 'God, help me' and there is one voice saying 'God, how can I help you?', which voice do you think will stand our? With this in mind, I try to focus on prayers for others.

I do pray evernight and give thanks for blessings receive and family..and healthy lives with the family..
