when did you stop feeding your infant gerber cereal? |
| |
| My daughter is 17 months and I am still giving her the gerber mixed grain cereal. I think its just for babies but it has so many good things in it that just cant be matched in other breakfast foods. It has a lot of iron which she really needs. I put some fruit in with it and she has it every morning. So when did you stop giving this to your baby? | | gerber cereal | | | | |

| | My son never really liked baby cereal, so we quit pretty early. If he had liked it, we might still be feeding it to him. He eats adult oatmeal now, when he has cereal. Sometimes he eats cheerios with milk, but usually he just has them plain. The rest of the time for breakfast he has an egg with cheese and milk, or maybe sausage and toast. He has a banana every morning. | | | | | | |

| | I stopped when my daughter was about 14 months old. I started feeding her regular oatmeal and make sure to give her lots of fruits, breads, and she drinks lots of milk. I've also made it a point to feed her plenty of meats to get enough iron. But I say keep doing what you are comfortable with. As long as her doctor doesn't see anything wrong with it I think it's fine. | | | | | | |

| | i fed my oldest daughter the oatmeal kind for a LONG time. She really liked it. After she turned one, we would mix milk or water with it instead of formula. She kind of let us know when she was ready to move on to something else. She's 2 and half now and she likes rice crispies, cheerios, granola cereal, etc. So, i think that you could feed it to her as long she wants it! | | | | | | |

| | I have never given any baby cereal to my daughter. it wasn't deliberate of course, just so happened that she took on to food that we eat so easily that i never needed to get any special food for her. She has a banana and milk for breakfast. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Fluffy, I stopped feeding my infants when they were two years old all of them, I think that it is very good and has a lot of fibre and iron in it which is good for our babies whilst they are still so young than other cereals that are on the market for them, and they loved it so I kept giving them this kind of cereal. | | | | | | |

| | I usually stop when they seem to want to stop, but I probably wouldnt continue past a year. I have even heard of some docs not recommending it at all now, as the Iron is added and doesn't actually come from the rice. Some pediatricians now say to skip the cereal altogether and go straight to baby foods. We do the cereal though, I think it's filling and adds consistancy to the foods I give to my son. I stopped around 9 mos with my older 3 because they never really cared for it and were eating table food pretty well at that point. We'll have to see what this guy wants to do. He loves the Rice, and the barley, but isnt into the oatmeal at all. Once he doesnt seem to like it anymore, I'll stop. | | | | | | |

| | I think with my first he ate that when he was around 7 months, but not for very long. I don't buy the stuff for my second so that's never there. LOL Gerber was recently bought by Nestle, and I boycott Nestle so I don't buy Gerber products. | | | | | | |

| | Is this the warm kind? My daughter is 10 now so I can’t remember when I did- : ( But if she eats it still and you are adding fruit- Does she feed herself? I’d check with the doctor to make sure she is getting other things she needs (nutrition wise) – I don’t see why she can’t continue to eat it- if she likes it and it has a lot of nutrients. Ask her pediatrician- You can even call them and talk to a nurse I’m sure- They would know for sure- | | | | | | |

| | My toddler never like the cereal but the best substitute is oatmeal. She loves the texture of it and I put fruits on it or just a little dash of salt. She is a very picky eater but she would eat a bowl of oatmeal all the time, which am thankful because oatmeal is healthy too. | | | | | | |
