What lies were you told as a child?

This is a little offbeat, but when I was little my grandparents had this fabulous swimming pool, my aunt was a competitive swimmer. They used to tell me that if I peed in the pool a big red ring would form around me and everyone would know what I had done. I believed this until I was 17 years old! (I may have been a "gifted" student, but very gulllible.) It was pretty embarrassing when I found out this wasn't true, and my friends were laughing at my silliness.

Ahhh one of the BIGGEST lies I was told as a child is that I was worthless.....another would be that I was loved....I am worth a great deal, and I was NOT loved by them at all..oh and that my "parents" marriage truobles were pretty much my fault but they stayed together for the sake of us kids which is quite odd considering they remained married until I was 17 or so and I'd already been long out of the house by that time as had my brother:-/

other than those, the typical Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, tooth fairy etc etc but I see nothing wrong with telling kids that...they enjoy it, and seeing their faces light up is just priceless:-D

I also am appalled by the Santa Claus lie. I was told he wasn't real before I can even remember, but I know many who were shocked that their parents purposely misled them for their own amusement and desires. I think that when I have kids, I will tell them that Santa Claus is just a way people have fun and celebrate the holiday. That he isn't real but is an extension of an idea of gift-giving and generosity.
When I was a child, my much-loved aunt died the summer of my seventh year. I was devestated and can still remember crying and wondering why and how this could have happened. I only found out a few months ago (16 years later) that she killed herself. I felt so betrayed by my parents! It also stirred up a lot of emotions in me that I had thought were dissipated. And it made me wonder -- what else have my parents misled me about?

That time travel isn't for real (I loved Dr Who, especially with Tom Baker).
That a elative of Bing Crosby had shot J.R. Ewing! B-B-B-Bing would never raise a bad child.
That Neal Diamond was the greatest singer of all time - I now know this to be Tom Jones.
Oh, and some Bible thingy, about a man and his friends living in the desert!

Let's see, if a doctor takes over your case and claims, "So you think the whole world is lying to cause you trouble or get you in trouble?" That would about sum up my answer to your question. "That's the jist of it."

Let's look closely at what is written in the Bible and understand the meanings of the words used, not just the words as we use them today, but also as the words were translated and used back when they were written.

"Son if you ever have a problem you know you can always come to me and we can talk about it, I might not be able to fix it, but I will always be here and able to listen." When I was age 12 these were the words of my father as he was leaving their was a brief period of an attempt to reconcile the marriage but this was the moment that it was clear there would be no further attempts to make that marriage work and my parents were heading for divorce.

Then my parents nearly caused my divorce as they protected the lies of the local detective Randy S. Floyd of Telford PA. We all need to protect the liar and the lies, not one, not two and I doubt that three are the only lies this man has told. But I'm the bad guy for expecting that the world around me would care if our police officers are blatently lying to gain convictions against innocent people.

Then you get the District Attorneys involved with the judges and none of them are doing their jobs or living up to their promises.

At the same time I'm dealing with my own personal issues, I was watching the President of the United States and his administration building up a plan for WAR in Iraq. I knew the President was lying, he and the lying detective are twin brothers of different mothers. Their demeanor was identical, mirror images of each other.

Information that is fabricated is never good reason to fight in another persons house or country. I've seen this happen too many times, a war built upon lies is never a good war, and not a war that should be fought by followers of the true pure loving and holy GOD. GOD would never condone violence in the first place, GOD would not forgive people who lie and abuse others both emotionally or physically, with out sincere repentance and reparations.

As for liars and bullies, when we go to heaven how many will be there? Does a pure and holy GOD embrace liars and bullies that do not know how to forgive or ask to be forgiven?

How many people will not find their way to heaven?

I know many like minded people that will find themselves in a place of peace beyond all human understanding and this place is called Heaven the Haven of the Great Spirit and source of all life.

The God that is taught by most religions is not the same GOD that I know, because my GOD is pure and holy and loves the truth.

The fact is that there is only one GOD, there is no other, all spirits are kindred and the true spirits know only this one GOD that Loves the Truth.

To be honest I don't think of those as lies. They were just stories that we were told and then would discover the truth and it was actually fun.

I love Santa Claus! I don't care if it was just a fib from my parents, it made Christmas Even a wonderful time even when I was adding 2+2 and getting the idea that this Santa Claus thing didn't work the way they were saying.

Sure there were a few fibs here and there. Some that helped me to learn values, some helped me to learn how to think for myself and to find answers from different clues, some were just fun at the time and helped me to have a great time as a child.

SO it's all good.

It would probably bother me if I had been lied to about important things or made feel guilty for mistakes my parents did. But things like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny etc..? I enjoyed them and still remember them with a smile.

I was told about the tooth fairey and santa claus....for sure... I think those are the most common two things that most of us were told....

I got told that my parents would take me to a movie called pocahantus, (sorry know i misspelled that.) if I cleaned my room. I cleaned my room, I worked so hard because I really wanted to see that movie. Then after I had done it, they were like we never told you that. I was so mad, I really wanted to see it and they just drug me around so my room would get cleaned.

oh.. there are lots of them.. but one that i would never ever forget is that they scare me that when i get wounded, mall the foods that i ate would get out of that wound.. with all the meats, rice, fish, etc and it makes me laugh until now that when i was a child, i was really afraid of it.
