One of my friends went over to be interviewed by a senior official of a large business house wearing blue jeans, a red T-shirt and rubber chappals. His secretary called saying she could not send him into the boss' cabin dressed as he was. He was sent back only because he was not properly dressed.

there should not be any dress code when u go for interview, how ever u should dress decent way with sober colors and insert and u shoe should be nice ly polished and y should we tie if possible

I agree with you - there should not be a dress code. It should be entirely up to the person going for the interview to use a little bit of common sense. To go for an interview looking like you are going for a walk on the beach or a hike in the country is not appropriate in my opinion. I certainly would not hire someone who could not take the time to dress decently for the interview.

I dont think they should discriminate against people just because how they are dressed. But when going for a job, you want to look professional and well dressed! Especially if you are being interviewed by a senior, a little effort can go a long way!!

I don't think people should look that much at the interviewee's clothes as at what the interviewee knows and what skills he or she has. I think perhaps some companies missed some brilliant people because of that (as brilliant people can be a bit eccentric sometimes:P ). In any way I totally disagree with sending someone back because of his clothes. I mean if it was some kinds of clothing contest I would have understood but normally an interview has nothing to do with that.

On the other hand everyone who presents to an interview (especially for a large business house) should know better than going there in rubber shoes:)
