kill,or leave alone. |
What is your first reaction to seeing a black beetle scuttling across your lounge floor. Do you kill it by stamping its guts out,or by some other gruesome method,or do you just leave it be. Our cat chases and exterminates them, when we had bearded dragon lizards, aia used to pick them up and feed them to the lizards, what do you do. Lets make it really interesting, any creepy crawlies at all, what do you do.

| |
ausnikki (1566) | 3 years ago | LOL I think the boiling water did the trick but i wasn't taking any chances. Those things are deadly!
| |
jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | hello again my ausnikki chum, crush them, what a shame, lol I have heard of the big spiders you have, yukk. Why yell and scream, they wont understand you. Wolf spider, gruesome I bet,but boiling water, lol,a hammer, lol, lol,I am not surprised it was dead.
| |
ausnikki (1566) | 3 years ago | The spiders here are really scary Jimbo! They don't have big spiders in New Zealand where I come from so I have had to get used to the huge ones here in Australia. (shudder)It was definitely dead thank goodness, they are very poisonous. The small spiders and bugs don't really bother me too much,I generally just put them outside.

jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | I know they are scary in Oz,and I am glad we dont have them here, but you do have a lot of things there that I wish we had here, like Bondai Beach,

2. nonew3 (886) | 3 years ago | I try to flush them down the toilet. I use whatever means I can to achieve this goal. I grab a piece of toilet paper and smash it in it and then do the flush-a-roo, or whatever.
The aim is always the same: To flush it down the toilet.

jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | I would laugh like hell if it wasnt dead, and it crawled out of the water and on to you while you were doing your stuff, lol

jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | Glad to hear it,we had a slug climb out of ours once,the cat was bemused,lol

nonew3 (886) | 3 years ago | Moral of the story: Don't use an indoor toilet. In fact, get rid of all indoor toilets, and start using outhouses outside. Will keep the insect and bug infestation down to tolerable levels.

mihimolly (4889) | 3 years ago | Our cat will worry, worry, worry the poor things before suddenly snapping them up. Its far to gory for me and I just dont look anymore. We have rescued mice and birds from him before but insects and spiders must take their own chances.

6. Stiletto (3172) | 3 years ago | I hate creepy crawlies but I try not to kill them - if I can I put them outside but sometimes they just don't co-operate! Mostly I get spiders or moths in my flat. My cat is a pretty efficient spider killer but occasionally the spiders even scare him they're so big. I try to trap them in a jar and then put them outside but sometimes I just can't do it if they're too huge. I can't trap the moths - I get huge moths which scare the sh1t out of me. My cat is useless at catching them so unfortunately most of the time I end up killing them. I feel bad doing it but they should know by now to stay away from me!!

jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | You sound like you are in a different country,we dont get big spiders and moths. Its the beetles that bug me
| |
Stiletto (3172) | 3 years ago | Maybe my idea of big is different from yours but they ARE big!! I don't get beetles - that would be the last straw if I did!

7. rhinoboy (1354) | 3 years ago | I'm actually surprised by how few bugs and beetles we get in the house. We get a few spiders, some get to be quite a size at certain times of the year. The wife freaks out and either squashes them or vacuums them up. I normally trap them with a cup or glass and put them outside, but sometimes leave them if they get somewhere hard to reach.
I think I'd have quite a different opinion if I lived elsewhere in the world though. I totally empathise with aussie girl who boiled and mashed a spider. I think I'd be digging out the blow-torch and barbequeing the bugger n'all! I'd certainly be taking no chances if there was even a slight chance of the blighters being poisonous.

jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | Boiled and mashed a spider, classic mylot moment. Blow torch and barbequing, classic mylot moment, you see it all here I just love the input on my stuff

rhinoboy (1354) | 3 years ago | Come on, tell me you've never bbq'ed any creepy crawlies after an al-fresco dinner (or is that just the psycho in me?!)
I've seen someone cook and eat an earthworm omlette before. Apparently, it's very nutritious. I think you would need to keep the worms in water a few dats though, otherwise the soil in them would be all gritty when you chewed, wouldn't it?
| |
jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | Oh man,I have just had my breakfast, I have eaten worm like creatures when I was wasted for a bet, jellied eels, yukk

8. texasclassygal (3438) | 3 years ago | The big cockroache that we have in Texas I hit with the biggest heaviest shoe in the house since the cats don't want anything to do with them, but the lizards we get I let my cats take care of them, they love playing with them and I have actually seen my big boy (avatar photo) actually eat the head of one, unsure if it just made him unhappy or he was just hungry, but needless to say they always kill them for me, such good cats I have.

9. killahclaire (1711) | 3 years ago | Well I live in one of those crap breeze block houses built in Scotland in the sixties so if I see a beetle scuttling across my floor I know I damn have to get the hoover out and hoover round the edges od the room otehrwise I will be plagued by them. They love the crumbs and stuff lying on the floor!
I have my kitten now though and I am sure he would love some beetles as he loves flies! Yum yum!
