Glastonbury Tor - One of my Favourite Places to Visit.

I got this shot of Glastonbury Tor which is a hill that suddenly appears out of the surrounding contryside in Somerset. This is one of my favourite places to visit in England. It is over the border from Wales into England, about 2 hours drive away from where I live.
Situated in Glastonbury, also known as the Isle of Avalon, some mystics believe it is the Heart Chakra of the World. It has many other magical associations. Magic Moutain, Fairy Mountain, A hill fort built by King Arthur and more. I often get the feeling that it is an ancient pyramid that has become so overgrown as to be unrecognisable as such.
There is no doubt that either the legends give it a certain atmosphere or I am picking up unseen forces when I am there. When I leave after a day there, I never fail to feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
Please leave comments or questions that I will do my best to answer.

Its a lovely photo you have placed here. From a quick search on wikipedia it seems that it is Somerset south England and there is also the roofless tower of St. Michael's. It has been posted three years ago but its the first time that I am noticing such beautiful photo. It makes me wish that I was there. How do you travel from Wales to England by ferry or plane?

Glastonbury sounds like a wonderful place. I find places like Glastonbury with all the history behind it, makes people wonder about the mystical association.Thats why you leave there feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and that a good feeling.

Thanks for posting. Yes, it feels like there's a magnetic pull of some sort.
It has had some negative things happen there too. When Henry VIII ordered dissolution of the monasteries, the Abbot of Glastonbury Abbey was dragged up the Tor and hung. He was then drawn and quartered and parts of his body taken to different parts of the country.
Glastonbury Abbey now lies in ruins in Glastonbury town at the base of the Tor and there's a rumour that King Arthur and his queen Guinevere are buried there. I remember something about a skeleton of a huge man (around 7ft) being found, but I'm not sure where this is.

I love Glastonbury Tor and the whole town it is a great place to visit and feels very spiritual. It's quite a walk up there but is worth it once you are at the top. The water from the chalice well and the gardens at the bottom of the hill are lovely too if you are in the town.

Thanks for posting. Oh yes, I have brought many a bottle of water home from the Chalice Well. And the climb up the Tor is worth every step. There's a problem now with the parking up there, you have to get a bus from the town square. But they are fairly freqent.. :-)
