is audio book an effective learning tol?  

hi I wouldnt buy that because I think I would doze off listening to an audio book instead of learning. But it also happens with me learning from normal books I read the stuff and suddenly I am asleep because its so boring.

I guess if I had to drive a lot everyday, I would buy audio books to listen to while driving. And perhaps that would help my learning if I can just play it again a couple of times. It is not my preferred choice for books, but it is certainly a great option for commuters that drive.

IF you has a car and you drive most of the time and your job's nature is travelling then audiobook is good. But i still prefer visual books. You need a good pair of ears to clearly hear what the audiobook is saying.

I prefer not to buy an audio book. I love reading. I think you take it in more if you actually read.

Audio books would naturally come in useful for people who can't read, or blind people, but I think they take away from the pleasure of reading if you are able to do so.

Hi, I play audio books when I'm driving my car to work. It's another way for me to learn correct grammar, usage, and pronunciation. Besides, you can also pick salient points from these audio books, and you are making good use of your time especially when you are caught in a traffic congestion.

There are a whole lot of books on my "to read" list right now, and I hoped at one point to get through some of them with audio books. Unfortunately, I tried listening to a book that I had already read, and discovered that I would tune it out very quickly, and not really hear what was being said. So I decided that audio books are not for me.

The only audio book I would buy for learning would for a foreign language. Listening to someone read drives me crazy because it's so slow. I also learn better by reading than listening. But for people who can learn by listening, audio books can be very useful.

I have hundreds of audio books, because before I retired I listened to books on tape or cd while I did my data entry job. Now I listen to cds in the car, I have no trouble listening to a book while driving, but then again, I'm not trying to get an education from these, they are novels. I have listened to some light non-fiction - Chicken Soup & stuff. I prefer fiction unless I can find a good history book.
I think I could handle a "Connections" type audio book too, but I'm not sure about some deep subject. Now, my roomie got a lot of her education on audio because she's visually impaired.

I think they definitely work if you can learn that way. I buy study guides on audio when I can. I wish I could buy all my books on audio.

The only thing that really wouldn't work on audio, is math. So that takes off some science things too, like physics. Learning about Einstein's Theory of Relativity on audio is kind of hard because of the equations. So even though I could have my physics book put into audio since I'm disabled, I didn't have it done. Instead, I have a friend who will read it and then show me when it gets to the equations.
