I need help with wedding reception music  |

 We are down to last minute preparations for my youngest Daughter's wedding next weekend. They have hired a disk jockey, for the reception. I know that this is their business, and will provide LOTS of music. There will be a dance for the reception.
My Daughter called last night to talk about some of her choices and preferences. We are a music loving family. She is 24 years old, has been very busy working AND going to college. My point is, we BOTH love music and listen all the time, but sometimes do not pay attention to names of songs or artists.
I thought It would be fun, if my friends and fellow myLotters would tell me songs that you like. I need a variety, there will be young and old at the reception, what better way than myLot for suggestions.
We need love songs, peppy music, some new and old country,
pop, a diversity. And can you still get/hear certain songs from the net?
This is our last finishing touches, and I'm sure there are songs we've totally forgotten. I know you can remind me. I appreciate any and all help from any one.
This also will help with MY pre-wedding nerves, she is my baby!:)

My husband has Jimi Hendrix "tapes", I'll get them out see if we have that song.
So far I've suggested "Make me lose control" by (I think) Eric Carmen (sp?) I love this song, her name is Jennifer, it talks about her in it. And "I can't help falling in love with you" by Elvis. My all time favorite.
And "Stand by me" forgot the artist. Hero, by Julio Iglesias (again sp). That's part of the problem, our spelling!:) | |

It was Julio's son, Enrique Iglesias, that did the song 'Hero'.

| 5. wachit14 (3236) | 3 years ago |  Since they are having a disc jockey, you have lots of choices and I can tell you most disc jockeys are very well versed in what kind of music to play to get people up and dancing. They will usually play a variety of contemporary songs for the younger people, standard songs (think Frank Sinatra) for the older folks and Motown music for the parents of the bride and groom and all their friends. It's very formulaic and works wonderfully. I'm sure they have picked out their own wedding song.

I swear by John Michael Montgomery. How Your Love Makes Me Feel by Diamond Rio. The Dance and To Make You Fell My Love by Garth Brooks. Truly, Madly,Deeply by Savage Garden. Its Your Love by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. And last but not least I Do by Mark Wills. These are just a few songs that I think might work. Of course you have to have the Chicken Dance--can't have a wedding without the Chicken Dance, and "People" is always a sweet song for slow dancing, for young and old couples, esp. newlyweds, because the lyrics are so meaningful.
