Decorating with a man in the house! email this discussion to a friend?

We just moved and after getting somewhat settled in, it was time to decorate. Now my husband is the unpatient kind and his main objective was, to get the pictures hung up just for the sake of having them hanging.
I wanted to asess everything and look and decide what would look best.
He just started hanging so I had no choice but to intervene and try to do some damage control.
I am seriously not happy with the results lol.
I am not in the mood to redecorate, since I want different decorations, since the pictures we have were perfect for the previous place but now they just look akward. He of course doesn't see it that way, as long as something is hanging on the wall lol.

Should I secretly get the pieces I want one at a time and just redecorate when he is not home one fine day?

LOL I would do exactly that
Replace them with ones you DO like while he is at work.
I know its kinda sneaky but sometimes you gotta play dirty to win. LOL
Good luck with this one!

Hi Riptide! Glad to hear from you!! Of course you should secretly buy the pieces you want & put them up as you get them!!!! The way I see it is this: If you spend most of the time in the house you should be able to redecorate the way you want to see it!!LOL

Oh your poor husband. Cant you just talk to him and tell him that you no longer like those pictures now that you are in the new place. Maybe ask him if they can be replaced? Us men dont like to over think things like this. We just want to make it feel like home as quickly as we can for our women. Thats our jobs, to provide a "home". the quickest way to make a house feel like a "home" is to put pictures on the wall. he probably just figures it doesnt matter. He probably figures if you liked the pictures at the other place then you should still like them now. men arent thinkers, we are doers. If you replace them while he is gone he could take it as failure on his part because he didnt provide a suitable "home" for his wife. I really think you should just talk to him.

If I tell him, he will probably go change it while I am at work tomorrow and make it more hideous, as good as his intentions are lol.
I don't think he will think he failed, I will just hint around it a bit and give it a few days until he realizes I'm right lol.

I would be going crazy if I were you. My husband is just as bad or worse than yours. He goes around checking the walls for studs before hanging a picture. I tell him to mind his own business and if I have to buy a butterfly hook to get the picture hung where I want it I'll do so. I would also go and get what you need and want to finish your decorating. Too bad you don't know my mom,,,,,, she would tell your husband that the man of the house has no business sticking his nose in where decorating is concerned. Then she'd tell him to go mow the lawn because that is his business.lol

My dad does not dare make a peep about what she does when it comes to decor.

If it were my partner...I would be able to buy a piece here or there and replace things and he would not even notice! ha ha
I have changed things around and he never notices or says anything unless I point it out. ha ha So, if you husband it like this, why not? You can be happy be replacing the items. And he is still happy because things are hanging on the wall.:)
Unlike my partner...he does not like hanging things on the wall and I have to twist his arm when I mention I want to hang something else.

He will notice oddly enough lol. He noticed yesterday that I cleaned them even though they didn't look much different, maybe a bit shinier.
But he would probably not mind, as long as it's not anything pink and flowery lmao.

I think that would be the best move for now and I suggest that you do it in small doses wherein he won't really notice that much. LOL! I do feel uncomfortable if the decorations and furnishings clashes with each other that I just have to change it. Though there are times also that I don't feel doing some redecorating but it's something that I have do or else I won't really feel at home.
