disney movies cost a fortune  |

 Why are some disney movies going for almost a hundred dollars? I went online to buy some of the princess movies and Sleeping Beauty was up to $100 for the dvd. I thought forget it but then I found some much cheaper ones on ebay. Would anyone actually pay $100 for a movie? I sure wouldn't! How do people get away with selling it for so much??

Disney only releases their movies every so often, keeping them "locked in the Disney vault" in between. It can be years between releases, so if you want a particular movie, your only real option is to buy online - and sellers will get however much they can,*because* they can. I HATE that they do that. I'm looking for Beauty & the Beast and it seems to be going for around $30 on eBay. Granted, not as bad as $100, but I still have problems with paying $30 plus shipping for ONE DVD. Blah.

| 5. carlaabt (3164) | 3 years ago |  It's crazy how expensive they are. We just buy them when they come out. I hate buying them on Ebay because so many of them are bootlegs, and you don't know it until they arrive at your house.
We don't buy most of the Princess ones, though.:) But my son LOVES Cars and Lady and the Tramp. We have several others, too. I hate to even pay the $20-25 that it costs to buy one new at Walmart, though.
We bought Dumbo on Ebay, but it was a bootleg. Ugh. We even paid $18 for it, and they said it wasn't, but of course it was, so that was a wasted $18.

By the time we would have paid to send it back, we wouldn't have got much back (out of the original $18, around half of it was shipping, which of course isn't refundable). So we didn't see much point in doing that, since they would have turned around and sold it again, and made even more money off of it. | |

I think all DVD's are expensive as it is for one little CD, so I definitely wouldnt pay that much for something like that, but there are some people that would I am sure. Those that are die hard Disney fans or maybe those with that extra money to blow on it.

I can’t imagine it being $100- I love e-bay.. you can always find a great deal there- Where did you go the first time for so much? Maybe it was an original or something? I used to buy the Disney movies for my daughter- we had a whole collection- she hadn’t watched them in so long and decided to sell them at the yard sale last year- I stopped buying them now- she is 10 though.

The hard to find ones are still cheaper than what you would find on Ebay. I was able to get Aladdin at a really good price, especially for a movie that went back into the vault. So before heading to Ebay, check out overstock.com
You will be shocked at all the movies you will find. I have a lot of catching up to do myself.
