Yes, but isn't it a lot more expensive than using Pledge? How about ants? Will they not invade your CDs once they detect the butter?Thanks for the info though. In the absence of any real cleaning agent, your bread butter will do, that's just cool.

Sometimes the craziest things work wonders, like cleaning silver with toothpaste. What l find interesting is how people come up with these ideas in the first place. I guess someone was eating peanut butter and listening to Cd's. I normally just wash my Cd's with soap and water, but next time l will give the peanut butter a try.

it works because of the oil but if i may correct your mom on how to handle a cd: don't use paper towel to wipe off because it might create some scratches use something soft and secondly wipe it from inside out and not in a circular motion because it does not have any groove where dust gets in between it.light travels on it.thanks for the tip.

I have never heard of this but I think I will try it on an old CD and see if it truly works. I know that there are several ways that things like that will help with bugs etc. I think that the oil would be a good explanation as to why this works so well.

I've heard of stranger things. I'm going to have to try this on a few cd's I have that have minor scratchs in them. Can't hurt and might work. If it makes them work better then I'm all for it.

Wow. Thank you! I had never heard of this. Actually, I've never heard of using Pledge to clean your CDs. I'd read that you should use rubbing alcohol, so that's what I've been using. Of course that doesn't help with the scratches at all. Using Pledge or some other type of cleaner containing an oil would make sense, since the oil would fill in the scratches, right? Incredible! I am so glad I read your post!

I love my peanut butter too much to waste it on a cd though.;)
I have used it in my daughter's hair when she got gum in her hair and it worked instantly, but that's the only time I've ever used peanut butter for anything other than eating.
