In the West, the rate of incidence has been declining in the last 30 years because of better medical care, preventive measures and lifestyle changes. In India, risk has grown 300 per cent in the past 30 years. We are three times more genetically prone to heart disease than Caucasians, and six times more than the Chinese. Heart disease is occurring in age group in India that’s 10 years younger than the rest of the world. With 40 per cent of our population in the under-25 age group, coronary artery disease could soon become a huge burden of the young.
