what type of cage to have for a ferret  

I have 2 ferret cages one is 3 stories high and the landings are all plastic,it has 3 hammicks and a slide and I make sure they have toys,food and water in there as well.The reason I have another cage is because when you have a baby ferret also known as a kit you don`t want to put them into a 3 story cage because there so small they can follow easily and break a paw or leg so my second cage is a one story with tunnels,I kept my baby ferret in this cage till I felt he was big enough to go into the 3 story cage which I think he was around 4 months old.You do not want to use a cage with metal bars or floor for one this hurts there paws to walk on and 2 they can easily get there feet stuck and broke in these kinds of cages,if you have one of these cages don`t worry just cover the metal with card board or towels something to keep there feet from going in beteen the bars.You also want to make sure your cage is big enough for them to play in for long periods of time.
