| | Actually no I dont EXCEPT when it comes to computer time but thats only because the kids share a computer and they both love being on it so sometimes when they are having one of their "we're goin to fight about everythign possible today" days I have to put time limits on them so I dont have to listen to the nonsense LOL | | | | | | |

| | I can see where that would definitely be helpful to you in terms of your sanity! LOL We have a one hour per day limit on computer time and video time. Everything else is within reason, and can vary from day to day. Homework and chores have to be done first. | | | |

| | Hello, teresaK,i do not have any children, when i was a child,my parents gave me alot of freedom, may be because i had self discipline,so they did not control me much, they just let me do what i wanted, they knew i would not obsessed with something. If your children is spending too much time on one particular thing, there may be a need to set time limit on it. May be what they like now may not be the same after few years, you may also need to change the limits to different things then. | | | | | | |

| | We set time limits on computer time and video game time from the beginning, so that we never ran into the problem of one of them spending too much time on either one. During the summer, we may occasionally allow for extra time, but we prefer them to be doing more constructive things most of the time. | | | |

| | my kids are still young so the only time they are on the phone is with family back home. they really don't watch much tv other then before bed then we all sit and watch tv and settle down for bed. my 2 year old watches it at nap time and falls asleep. video games are only played by my oldest and that is not often at all. he will play a lot if he gets a new game but he will go months before he bothers with it again. the computer is the problem now that my oldest is out of school so we make him earn his time on the computer by doing things around the house and yard. there is a couple sites that i found i let him play on with out earning the time because they are sites that help him with reading and math and what not but he likes car toon network and nick, things like that. like today is rainy so i will get him on one of the reading sites i found and let him do that but not just to play around. | | | | | | |

| | I do set time limits for my children such as their playtime, computer time, tv time and even outdoor time. It's my way of ensuring to keep them in line and that they are not getting too much of anything and that they have enough time for other things. | | | | | | |

| | We used to have a limit of 30 minutes per person online when the kids were little. Also Tv programmes were watched and then the TV turned off. This was to give them time to do things in the real world and not to feel dependant on the TV or the PC. | | | | | | |

| | I don't really set time limits for tv, computer, video games etc. for my four year old son. I do however when I feel that he has watched something for too long I break it up by getting him active by going for a quick walk around the block, going for a bike ride, or even taking the trash out and getting the mail. Sometimes I join in and even though we start one thing, we end up changing it and doing another. Just only now he has watched three tv programs (caillou, barney and zaboomafoo) and in between we were playing hide and seek LOL. I think I may have to when he starts kindergarten in September. | | | | | | |

| | I never imposed time limits on anything, but we had priorities, like homework came before tv or video games. They could play with friends outdoors till supper time then it was homework till it was finished then whatever till bedtime. Bedtime was 9 and if I was lucky they were asleep by ten...lol | | | | | | |

| | Yes I do-- My daughter is not allowed to watch alot of TV- I prefer her to be active outside with us- So she gets on average 30 minutes a night to settle down- She also doesn't watch it when she has sports- not enough time in the day- I let her use the computer for all school projects for as long as she needs- but for play 20 minutes usually- Again I'd rahter she be active- | | | | | | |

| | The only strict time limited item I have on my kids is the PS2 system. If I allowed it, they'd play it all day, every day. They each are allowed up to one hour a day, and even then, it's usually split up in 20 minute turns. They also aren't allowed to touch the ps2 until the playroom is tidied up, and all of their household chores are completed (like homework, laundry put away, etc). I don't find I have to set time limits on anything else, unless they're fighting over a toy. Then I'll intervene with timed turns... I use the microwave timer for that. lol. I guess there is one more "limit" I impose on the boys, and that is bedtime. The twins are 6, and are allowed to stay up until 8pm on schoolnights. The 8 yr old until 8:30pm on schoolnights. On weekends, they all can stay up until 9pm. In September, the twins will be in the grades, and they will be allowed to stay up until 8:30pm like their brother. | | | | | | |

| | Yes. After school they are only allowed one hour of their choice in video games or t.v. Their choice but only an hour. Only one of my kids gets really upset about it. He is old enough to understand more. The other two kids could care less. They are not too into the comouter yet. I am sure as they get older it will be a lot harder. BUt right now I would rather them play outside or read a book or use their imagination to do something. There is no kids where we live so they get bored very easily. But they rarely ask to watch t.v. On the weekends they wake up extra early and catch t.v while i am sleeping (likeI don't know what they are up to) Right now it doesn't matter theri age because they are all close in age. SO what goes for one , goes for all. | | | | | | |
