'There isn't much respect for actors' Agree?  

i dont think so. i am from India where the actors grow up to become politicians and are well accepted by people.

Some Actors are treated as gods..

There are actors and then therse are Stars.Actors may make films , but they also do plays.It is the work that counts. And Then there are Stars. They make movies and they are only interested in making a name for themselves.I think actors are respected ,especially when they use their free time to make the world a better place. They give their time to charities that are close to their hearts.on the other hand, Stars seem to just party when they are not working.So there are some actors that are respected.

It is hard to respect someone who plasters their private life across the media.
Sometimes that is not their fault because the media cannot mmind it's own business but some actors will tell all and then are suprised they are disrespected.
I agree those actors who do stage work as well as film work are the serious actors. Stage work does not pay well and involves living in digs,it is not really very glamourous. Those actors ,act for the love of the work.
