is disposable camera okay?  

For snap shots, they're fine, but I think it makes more sense to get a cheap, reusable point and shoot and film instead of buying a new camera all the time.

It's true that the photographer makes more of a difference on the quality of the photo than the camera, but even a professional would have a tough time getting quality photos out of a disposable.

Try thinking of them as "recyclable" cameras. :) Just about everything but the film is recycled into making a "new" camera. (At least this is what I tell myself!)

I love using them for my children. They take them on class trips, or when they just want to snap a few shots for themselves. It's fun to see what things look like through their eyes. AND if they lose them, at least it's an $8 camera, and not a $200 one. :)

Depends, what situations. When I forgot to bring my own camera, this disposable camera surely come in handy. I bought this type of camera also for my 4 years old daughter so she can just take any photos that she likes. Much cheaper than ruin my real camera. Some people also keep one in the car just in case bumpy accident happen so they can take photos for evidence to claim to their car insurance.
