Are you going to encourage your Daughter to join Beauty Pageants

We don't have beauty pagents here in Ireland but if we did I would not force anyone to do it, at a young age they will do as they are told and think it is the right thing to do, it can be right for some and not for others but i want my children to make their own choices and not put any pressure on their young shoulders

i will not allow or encourage any child of mine to join something that they wouldn't like. the idea of joining a beauty pageant must come from them. if they wanna join then ill support them for as long as it won't hurt her studies.

it could be a lot of pressure for her if i do so i say the decision is up to her..if she wanna join beauty pageants then i will give her full support but i would not force her to join in such if she doesn't have any interest of joining at all..it can just stress her and joining with this kind of field is just so stressing and could be a very big responsibility to begin with..people will expect so much of her and i do not want her to get that pressure ever.

Eh...not that I have anything against pageants, but I would only join my daughter on that if the idea came directly from her. I have heard of people who expose their daughters to these things (all those Miss Americas, and Miss Universe, Miss Word, so on) a lot so eventually she will ask, but I highly doubt I will be exposing her to those programs. It must honestly come from her.

I don't really like message those things send out to young girls who aren't old enough to understand the grand scope of things.. you know? All they'll get from that is "I'm smarter and prettier than you so - I win!"

I would let that decision be up to my daughter. I feel that beauty pageants are alot of pressure on girls but they also have lots of rewards and make girls feel good about themselves when they win.. I would not pressure my daughter into pageants, that would have to be a decision she made on her own but if I felt the pageant was not good for her well being or it was damaging her self esteem I would not allow her to do anymore. the most important thing in pageants is that girls enjoy them and have fun. They should not be pressured into doing them and they should not take it hard when they dont win. All women and girls should always remember they are beautiful and dont need a crown to prove it. Love yourselves ladies!

I wouldn't even suggest it to her. If SHE wants to do it, then I'd support her. On the whole I don't think too much of beauty pageants. Glorifying the way a person looks (which is really only temporary and often deceptive) places emphasis on the wrong parts of the body. It's the mind and heart that count, not the shell that holds them. Pageants are one of the many sources of eating disorders in this country and the winners are just used as eye candy for the year they reign. This is not a good message to send to young women.

I would never encourage anyone to start participating in those things. I guess if my daughter (my imaginary one) decided to try it out, I might let her--but I'd never push her in that direction. I think it is very superficial (despite what some say), and it also costs a tremendous amount of money!

I know two girls who spend a great deal of time with these things, and the more I hear about it, the more I don't understand why they do it. They spend tons of money on lessons (interview lessons, voice lessons, etc.), clothes, traveling, and always feel the need to lose weight--even though they are both at a mere 100 pounds.

I think it would be better, and far more healthy, to push a daughter towards other hobbies.

i do not persuade my children to do anything. i think they should be able to make their own decisions. my oldest daughter wanted to be a cheerleader so we put her in cheerleading camp. she found out she didn't really like it. so then we tried the flag camp and she did like that. my girls are very beautiful and i would not feel comfortable parading them around.

no way not only would I discourage it I would not allow it .these are a poor example to young girls to let them thik looks are all important there not look at Paris Hilton would you want your daughter to end up being empty headed like she is??

I would never force or persuade my daughter to enter a beauty pageant. I have seen parents that do force their children into these things and it makes the child very unhappy, especially with all the hours that they have to sit still to be primped and preened.

To me it's like not letting the child be a child. Now maybe one or two pageants is fine in the course of a year, but going to every single pageant that my be in state, regional, or however it is done, is a bit to much in my opinion. And really don't see the point in it

Now if she is an adult, than I may bring it up to her, but in the end it would still be a decision I wouldn't pester her into making.
