Question about Thunderbird and Gmail |
|
Does anyone out there use the Thunderbird email client? If so do you use it with your Gmail account? For those of you that use Thunderbird to retrieve emails from your Gmail account, maybe you can answer my question. Does Thunderbird retrieve email that gets sent to the spam folder in Gmail, or does it only get the mail that goes into the inbox?

1. Katagiri (308) | 3 years ago | It doesn't, you must go to Gmail's web to retrieve your SPAM.

Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | Well that's annoying because I use a lot of different email accounts. I have 12 that I use just for paid to do offer sites. A lot of times stuff that isn't spam gets sent to the spam folder so I have to check it. I guess I'll just have to go through and add all the sites that I do want to get email from to my contact lists so I won't have to actually log in to all of my email accounts so often. Anyway thanks for the quick response.

Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | Well the problem I have is that a lot of times stuff goes into the spam folder that shouldn't. It's going to be so annoying to actually log in to all of my email accounts to check the spam folders. I guess I just have to set my contact lists to make sure that doesn't happen as much.

santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | Yup, that would be a good idea. Have you setup filters, or is Gmail designating legitimate messages as spam all by itself? Gmail allows you to create some powerful filters, so be sure to watch what you're doing when you use them.
I like the C/R filter myself. Spammers will eventually back down if they can't reach your inbox, and especially if they get bounced messages or challenges. The only filter I setup in Gmail is a wildcard, to forward everything in my inbox to Bluebottle.;)

Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | I had never set up any filters before, gmail was doing that all on it's own. I guess when you get tons of PTR messages, it starts to look like spam sometimes.

santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | I understand. Have you been clicking the "not spam" button? You can train Gmail to stop flagging your important stuff. Thank you for best response!:)

Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | Yes I do click the non spam button for stuff that isn't spam, but it still happens.

santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | There's one more thing I can suggest. Hopefully it should work. If you open the message in the spam folder, and it's from someone you want correspondence from, highlight the e-mail address (click and drag), copy it (Ctrl + C), and paste it (Ctrl + V) in your contacts list. If that doesn't work, something is wrong. If that's the case, check the Help section, then contact them. I hope you can get it all fixed!

3. coolcat123 (3390) | 3 years ago | No,Till now I have not tried Thunderbird e-mail client but I use Outlook express with my hotmail e-mail account and it works fine with hotmail e-mail account and the best thing is that outlook express is free of cost and provided by Microsoft as default in any of the operating system's software.

santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | The problem with Outlook Express is that it doesn't support TLS. The only thing it supports is SSL, and Gmail requires TLS.

4. ptrikha1 (4115) | 3 years ago | I have used Thunderbird mail client with another email id . You have to click on a subscribe button to retrieve all the Folders. As for Gmail, I don't recall but can test it out on weekend .

Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | I tried to find the subscribe button, but didn't see it. Where in Thunderbird is this button located?
| |
|
|
ptrikha1 (4115) | 3 years ago | Try right click on the Account name .

|
|
Kythe42 (841) | 3 years ago | I tried to right click on the account name and there was no subscribe option.

|
|
santuccie (1940) | 3 years ago | It's in the "File" menu. But isn't that for RSS feeds? At least that's what I thought it was.
