3. mihimolly (4889) | 3 years ago | I love the books. The author was at comprehensive school in England in the 1970's and so was I and I can see so many nostalgic memories within the books. I love how English it all is with the colloquialisms. Ofcourse I would like to have magic too.It would be so handy. The underdg is the hero and I think there are a lot of underdogs in life who would like to also be the hero. Certainly they have helped a lot of young people to handle their rather put upon lives in school and at home.

4. asmurthy (2009) | 3 years ago | The seduction of the Harry Potter series, written by an English woman named J.K. Rowling, is potent because the story pulls on one's heartstrings. Its hero, Harry, is a 10-year-old orphan who is actually a powerful wizard. He lives a miserable existence with his cruel uncle and spoiled cousin. His life changes on his 11th birthday, when he finds out who he is and is accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for aspiring wizards. Harry's classes include creating potions, casting spells and performing other occult practices, as well as lessons in riding a magical broomstick. The occult influence is wrapped in a clever plot meant to captivate and thrill.

5. easyliving (1541) | 3 years ago | I wouldn't say I am a fanatic but I enjoyed the series and have watched all the movies. Keeping mind that Harry Potter was suppose to be geared toward the kids market but the adults liked it as well and it received much more popularity than originally thought. I can't speak for everyone but I enjoy the stories because first they are extremely well written and have great plots. Each series flows easily into the next movie. I think all of us have a little positive opinion on witchcraft and sorcery. It's kind of nice to see the good guy beat the bad as well.

7. derek_a (5143) | 3 years ago | When I watched the Harry Potter film, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I know it is targetted towards children, but even as a child I would want to see Harry Potter interact with ordinary kids in the real world who would be astounded by his powers. Have the magic school, but only to show where he learned his skilled, and then bring him back into the real world as soon as possible. I much preferred Lord of the Rings - that was for children too, but a much more gripping story. Harry Potter seemed to copy a lot of those ideas and put them in the school in my opinion. But as I said, it was for kids and I am an adult - so perhaps I ought to be a bit more forgiving:-)

8. kfrisk (2817) | 3 years ago | I can honestly tell you I am not sure what about Harry Potter I like so much. Originally the books were intended for adults, from what I have heard. And truthfully I don’t think I would let my kids read the books until they were teenagers, though I have let them watch a couple of the movies. But I have read all the books and seen all the movies. I think it just has to do with the magic in the book. There is just something about reading about the magic and what they can do in the recesses of the imagination! I actually get so absorbed in the books that I can finish one in a day or 2.

10. lvap0628 (582) | 3 years ago | I love the Harry Potter books. In fact I'm re-reading them to prepare myself for the release of the 7th and final book. Why? Because Harry Potter is a typical teenager who would have appeared ordinary to us Muggles but he has this extraordinary wizard powers that I'm sure any one of us would have liked to have at one point in our lives. He was orphaned at a very young age and passed on to relatives who were cruel to him; so we sympathize with him. He experiences normal teenage angst (which no one would deny we went through as well); so we empathize with him. On his young shoulders were given the task of saving the world at risk to his life; so we are rooting for him.
