June 14th is Flag Day in America. On this special day, we take the time to dispose of old and worn out flags with a ceremony. This is a somber ceremony of honor. We take the time to remember our military who serve our country and reflect upon our nations history. As we watch the flags quickly disappear into the fire, we are reminded that our country and our freedom can be consumed, destroyed and gone just as quickly. We are reminded to cherish what we have, to be proud of it and to protect it.
On June 14th, my Girl Scout troop performed this ceremony. My daughter tried to capture some of the ceremony with her camera. Please give your opinion of her photo. Remember to click on the photo and rate it. Thank you.

I think that is a very good thing. It shows that she takes real pride in her work. And a great photographer always 'brackets' shots to find the very best.

My daughter found it was very difficult to take these photos since the flags disappear into the fire very quickly. She had to be fast. There were a lot of photos that she took that did not capture the flag or the impact of the ceremony. She is very picky about what pictures I am allowed to share on mylot. She will only let me show what she considers to be her very best.

That's a pretty sweet idea.
I couldn't see any photo, but I'll check after when I've posted this and respond again. (posting from notification)
Thanks for sharing,

I love how it's captured the flames, fire's have always been something which captures my eyes/attention.
Was someone poking it with a stick?

I would love to attend one of these. I have not heard of one lately. I will have to check into a local ceremony.
I will be praying for a " no loss of life" as well royal as I am sure everyone does.
And of course her photo is wonderful. She is a very talented girl!

That would be a very touching ceremony to attend. I wish I could have been there. What an honor for your Girl Scout troop to be able to perform this ceremony. And the photo your daughter took is very poignant and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it hon.

June 14th is Flag Day in the United States. You might check with your local VFW, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts to see if they do a ceremony. Our ceremony is always open to the public.
