Guinea Pigs? OH! HOW I LOVE THEM! I took care of 2 guinea pigs already! The first one when I got it is still 3 months. It grew in my care and lived for 5 years! Believe it or not! I treat it as human. It sleeps in my bed, watch television believe it or not but a very behave pet! She didn't bite even once. We carry her to mall and eat in restos. Those were the times that pets are still allowed in mall here in the Philippines. What's more is she loves to eat! Vegetables, sweets such as ice cream, chocolates, cake.. Especially if she smells the food, she make noise (noise made by guinea pig. you know it right?). We all cried when she died! (T_T) Another guinea pig that we have is, when we got it, it is turning a year still grew in our care and live for 4 years! Well the life span of guinea pig is really up to 3 years only. I researched it. Same with my previous guinea pig the only difference is he is more quiet and he bites when he gets irritated. yeah! he does! but not that hurt though! Loves to eat vegetables only. Of course we also cried when it died. (T_T) How i miss them! They are the best pets ever!

Most of them don't really play, so to speak. They like to burrow, and explore, though. If you give them something a foot or two around, they'll probably run around and around it when they're in a hyper mood. If there's a blanket around, or something they can crawl under/through, they like that sort of thing. I leave an emply toilet paper tube in the cage with mine, to chew on, and one of them likes to pick it up with her teeth and toss it around the cage.

Hello claireboo. I didnt have any toys for when I had guinea pigs for pets. What I did was create a game for them. We use potted plants to create a maze. Then at the end of the maze we place their cage. You could put their favorite food in there. Its fun. We enjoyed it and the guinea pigs loved it.

I usually stick with wooden chew toys and treats to keep their teeth under control. They love to chew on cardboard too so I give them boxes (clean) to tear in to. The tops from carrots can make for a nice snack but they also like to burrow under them and drag them around. Avoid the "run around" balls, even the bigger sized ones aren't good for their backs. They can also have a lot of fun with a lunch sack (paper). Just open it up and fold down the ends so it stays open. They'll climb in and out of it and then just start chewing on it. Make sure anything you give them (boxes, bags, cardboard etc) is clean and doesn't have any tape on it.
