Will you tell your kids that Santa Claus is not real? |
|
You believe in Santa when you were child?..I know it's not Xmas yet..but my kid happened to mention it awhile ago about what gifts he wanted for Xmas..yes at this time of the year..And he surprised me by saying Santa is not real! I wonder where he learned this from..I thought all kids believe in Santa..?And I never mentioned to him about Santa being a legend or exist or fake before. He is just 5 yr old.

I would rather my daughter know that Saint Nicolas was a real person, but the Santa Claus we know is for fun.

3. TeresaK (8081) | 3 years ago | No, I never told my children that Santa Claus wasn't real. In our family, Santa is VERY real..he's the spirit of giving to others that is in each of us. So, we all play Santa for someone every year, especially for those less fortunate. Since the children were little, we have always made a point of buying presents for others who might not have Christmas without a little help, teaching them that the season is about giving and about caring for others, not about what you GET.

4. speedy1279 (1490) | 3 years ago | Wow, 5 years old that is young to find out that Santa is not real. I have a total of three kids and only one of them knows the truth. That is my stepson who is 10. He just told us right before Easter this year. He had a tooth come out while he was at his moms house. We asked him how much the tooth fairy had left him. He said "Oh, you mean my mom." We were stunned and didn't know what to say. Then he says, "I know about the Easter bunny and Santa as well." By this point we were speechless. So we asked him if he was mad at us for telling him all these years that they were real. He said no but that he had know for about 2 years now.
As for my other two kids who are 3 and 4. I plan on letting them figure it out on thier own as well. My stepson has even said he will play along so that way they don't figure it out to early.

5. mihimolly (4889) | 3 years ago | When I was a child we found our presents hidden away before christmas and my mother admitted that she bought them herself. We had suspected it all along. I never even told my children about santa bringing presents. We live frugally and we felt it was silly to give them the idea that they would get their hearts desire from a benevolent man in red clothes . We thought they should know that parents and family buy the presents and if they cant afford ponies and real electric motorbikes then it is silly to wish for them. They never minded but knew they mustn't spill the beans to friends who thought santa was real.

| 8. helpingmomsathome (80) | 3 years ago | No way. I'm going to let them believe what they want. I still believe in the spirit of Christmas. My kids are 7, 5 and 2 and I feel that's the best part of Christmas (what Santa will bring). Even after my parents knew we were old enough to know differently they still hid the presents until Christmas morning.
