What is the your best way to cheer up when you are down?  | | I know that each of us has a unique way of gathering ourself up when we are down. it is the human survival instincts that looks for a way to feel better when we are down, tired, sad and so on. I know that every time that happens to me i just go out from my house and take a 30 minutes walk and them meditate, and things do go back to the right perspective. What is your way to cheer up when you're down?

If I feel myself down I try to drunk myself at home with my friends and try to be with them and talk everything that is weird. And when Im over the limit I usually go straight to bed and fell asleep immediately. When I woke up, I feel better again.

I may go to sleep (dreaming always is a great spirit lifter for me), go for a walk, do some cross stitch, have a good cry, get lost in a good book or movie ... or indulge in some good chocolate ice cream!*wink*

I need to be where the stresses of the day are not effective any longer and I can think things through. If I am very angry, I will maybe have a mad cleaning spree so that I have something else to think about.

| | 4. molusk (452) | 3 years ago | I would in times of failure in whatever undertaking I wanted to achieve success, think of the times I was fighting my own survival in the streets as a child scavenger during my younger years, and from those years onward, think about the many blessing I have had that enabled me to survive the hardship and the harshness of life. Those memories would then further my resolve to work more for the attainment of my undertaking.

| | 5. freebc (1501) | 3 years ago | I think I do something similar to what you do in that while I don't physically walk away, I do it in a kind of mental sense.
As you have come to know, I am one for getting whiney at times. My way of coping with the whiney times is to whine enough that I begin to see humour in it and then I can laugh at myself. Once I can do that, I can cheer up quite quickly.
But it seems like I have to wallow around in the mire of self pity a spell before I can finally get tired of it and stand up, scrape the gunk off and walk out of this self pity and on my way forward again. We hope anyway.

| | 6. mimpi1911 (8132)  | 3 years ago | hi liran, i donot have a proper way that would get me out of my sadness and blues. as you know, recently, i am into something irreversible and i get into depressive bouts often. its terrible! i can't find ways to get out. i work, work and work more, till late hours, i go out freaking, i try to spend time in recluse, may be, i would read a funny book or watch cartoons. these are but temporary elevators. eventually, i do get over. i guess TIME is the best healer. with its passage things ease out a bit but the ache stays.

And if i am here i usually just read the posts and responses. Yes, there is not an easy way to solve our sadness, it is more complicated. But the doctors say that there are small things that can make us feel better, usually physical activities.

| | 7. diannebcrs (786) | 3 years ago | i sleep, eat chocolates, eat ice cream, watch my favorite movies, walk, listen to music. just do the things you love to keep your mind off what's making you upset. the best therapy i guess to that is talk it out with your friends, with your husband/wife, talk it out with your mom and dad coz they're the best advisers. because you don't have to deal with your problems alone. if you're religious, talk to God. you'd be relieved, i promise you.

Depending on the kind of blues i feel the music could be anything from Enigma. Enya, Pink Floyd to Pat Metheny or maybe even blues music. I just try to divert my attention from the sad happening or thing...and try to think something positive, something cheering. Walking is another option, which I also follow to charge me up, when I am down and out.
