Do You Like Dragons? |
|
I have always found dragons to be so special and mystical. I just love them even though they are quite fearsome. I think that my love of dragons attracted me to the Spyro the Dragon game on Playstation. I used to play alone for a long time. Then my sister and her boyfriend discovered it and we just got together often to play the game. They followed up with two more games in the series, and it just got better and better. I really miss playing that game with them.

1. Aurone (2551) | 3 years ago | I remember that game. I loved it too. My Celtic astrology symbol is the green dragon. So I love dragons, plus I use the Celtic Dragon Tarot Deck, so they really speak to me. They are such wonderful creatures.

worldwise1 (6112) | 3 years ago | Hi Aurone. I really enjoyed playing those games. I am interested in all things Celtic. Maybe you could send me some info. I know a little about Celtic myth and legend. I find the subject fascinating.

2. maddysmommy (10990) | 3 years ago | Funny how you mentioned Spyro because my son loves Spyro. We bought a used copy from EBGames last year and have recently traded it up for other games. That was one game my son couldn't stop playing. I on the other hand don't have the patience to go around collecting things LOL I do like the graphics though!
Did you ever see the movie Eragon? I thought Saphira the dragon was beautiful:)

worldwise1 (6112) | 3 years ago | My sister has all 3 in the Spyro series. I passed mine on to my great-grandson, but I am thinking about getting it back since his mom won't play with him. He is 3. I have heard much about Eragon from the time the book came out. I almost bought it. I will have to see the movie soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

maddysmommy (10990) | 3 years ago | I have a copy of the book if you want it. It was given to me by a neighbor (looks new too) and because I have already seen the movie, I never got a chance to sit down and actually read it, and probably won't! I don't mind giving it to someone who wants it? So if you want it, pm me your address and I will mail it this Friday when I am at the Post Office, free of charge:)

3. fuzzEbluebathrobe (278) | 3 years ago | From my experience with Dragons it is hard for me to think of them as anything other than big, stinky, clumsy, scaly, loud, overbearing oafs. No insults intended towards actual oafs. They make terrible neighbors and are alwasy setting things on fire. I am sick of hearing them brag about the whole "We are the greatest of all the anchient mystical creatures" thing. Now your telling me they have a video game too! What's next collectible figurines, children's folk songs, movies, books and a one hour interview in Larry King!!!

5. pyewacket (11667) | 3 years ago | I love dragons, and yes do find them special and magical--which probably explains my love for the movie Eragon...and now am reading the book...I have a few dragon figurines that I love. I also read a lot in the series The Dragonriders of Peryn --have you read a lot of Dragon related books??
| |
| |
|
|
worldwise1 (6112) | 3 years ago | As a matter of fact, pyewacket, I have. Since Fantasy is one of my favorite genres, I have read quite a lot about them. The latest that I read was in the Nora Roberts trilogy-the latest one. Darn it, I was going to give you the name of them, but it seems that my daughter selected those books the last time she came over and took them home with her. You can check out her website though. In this trilogy she has time travel, a witch, a sorcerer, a Celtic goddess, lots of entertaining stuff.

9. mihimolly (4889) | 3 years ago | I love dragons. My son said if he could come back as anything in the future it would be a dragon. I think probably people thought there had been dragons becuse they found dinosaur bones long ago . They were right really. Interesting that they always look the same in pictures though, always with wings and fire breathing. If you havent read them, the wizard of earthsea books have dragons and the later ones have quite a lot to do with them, especially 'the other wind',they are all by ursula leguine.
| |
| |
|
|
worldwise1 (6112) | 3 years ago | I am familiar with the works of Ursula Leguine, mihimolly, and she is great. The name escapes me right now but Nora Roberts has a trilogy that features dragons very prominently(Ithink they were published last year). She really goes into a lot of detail about them too.
| |
|
|
mihimolly (4889) | 3 years ago | I will look out for nora roberts books. Its always good when a new author appears on the shelves.

10. murciaman (324) | 3 years ago | Dragons area fascinating subject..as kids we all know various dragons from folk tales and more recently film and tv..remember Puff the friendly dragon? And on UK tv there was h r puff n stuff a kids tv program about a friendly dragon who had magical powers this starred Jack Wild the child actor who played dodger in the musical Oliver.Jack sadly died a few years ago now...but kids still remember the program...of course in the Uk we have a head start as our patron saint, ST George is credited as having slew the dragon!!
Dragons feature on the flag of Wales too and is tied up with medieval history....probably dragons and their myths in Europe spread from stories in the far east as the dragon features greatly in the chinese culture..there is a tenuous link to too our fascination with dinosaurs...
| |
| |
|
|
worldwise1 (6112) | 3 years ago | You are very knowledgeable on the subject, murciaman. Thank you for your input. Yes, I remember those tv shows. I am also well aware of the significance the dragon plays in the Asian culture, but I think they are treated much more frightening by Asians.
