| John Lennon's Hair Color  | | | |  Hello everyone,
Is it me or did you also notice that it seems that John Lennon's hair color had changed over the years ?
That it seemed darker and more brownish when he was younger and when he was a moptop Beatle in the early to mid 1960's.
Only for it to change to a lighter, almost more orangenish color when he got older, towards the end of the Beatles career in the late 1960's.
And it also seems that once his hair got lighter, it had never reverted to being dark again afterwards. At least not to as dark as it was when he was a moptop Beatle.
So, that brings the question. Did he dye his hair ? And if he did, when did he do so ? When he was younger perhaps to have his hair color match the rest of the Beatles (ie. specially Paul and George) ? Or did he change his color when he got older perhaps to look different, partly to deviate away from his moptop image ?

| |  You have to consider that most of what we saw in the old days was in black and white. However, if you watch the one's in color, notice that his hair was slightly red. It's something I've wondered about too actually!

Yes, that could have played a factor. However, generally speaking his hair did seem to get lighter when he got older.
In a way, he did have a bit of a strange hair color. Looking more brownish in the shadow or even looking more dark brownish in a black and white photo and at the same time his red highlights showed more under the light.
For instance, in the movie A Hard's Day's Night, he did look like he had dark brown hair. Then in the color movie Help, he still generally looked like he still had brown hair.
And even in the famous Seargent Pepper's album sleeve, he looked like he had dark brown hair.
And it wasn't till, you saw that famous photo of him in the white album and also in that famous Abbey Road album sleeve, when you kinda went "whoa" that he looked like he had orange-reddish hair in those.
I also think I read it somewhere that Yoko actually did make him dye his hair red, not sure if it was true though.
