Electric Fences for Dogs  

I never thought they were a good idea...I would worry about other dogs coming onto my property and attacking my dogs..It is very sad that this has happened..I wonder what will happen to the dog and the owner?

I bought one of those invisable fences before and you have to teach your dog not to go by the flags they give you in the package. The fence runs on a low frequency that doesn't hurt the dog much. I couldn't seem to teach my dog to stay away from the flags, and when the fence was installed my dog kept crossing the barrier. I packed it all up and took it back for a refund. I wouldn't own another invisable fence as long as I live. I doesn't work.

Some of them work well and others aren't all that great. If a dog is going to charge someone like that, chances are the fence isn't going to make that much of a difference because they are determined to get what they want. A dog with that type of behavior shouldn't be left outside unattended and certainly not with an invisible fence standing between them and the rest of the neighborhood.

We have invisible fencing in our yard- It covers the entire 5 acres of
land- It works wonderful- If you get a break in the line it does not
work- Our dogs won't go near the boundaries- even if they do not have
their collars on- They are trained- I wonder if this was new to this
dog? and if it was an attack dog or a dangerous dog- i would think
the owner would have used something more than invisible fencing- It
really only deters the dogs by shocking them- they can still go
through it!

from what i understand from friends who have them,
they're really only meant for training with low risk dogs-they don't have enough of a charge to stop extremely aggressive dogs like that one.they just shrug the zap off,or it just makes them angrier.

I don't know I do not own a dog that require such a device. Honestly I do not believe in training an animal to harm a human being. I am guesing the gate was not strong enough for this particular dog. I am sure there are settings for bigger and smaller dogs.
