Do you take Degrassi seriously?

I do enjoy the show & have cried a few times. I do not put much stock into though I guess.

I'm going to have to admit that I cried when JT was killed. And I do feel like I have a deep connect between Emma and Manny. But I also have been watching the show since it started and I have grown with the characters. To a non-degrassi watcher this may seem weird but I don't care. I love my degrassi.

Emma and Sean are ment to be, seeing them together brought so much excitment. Ellie cutting felt alot like someone jabbing that compass into my skin. When JT died I cried for a week JT was amazing. I have watched degrassi sonce seson one and the first time i watched it i instantly felt like the charactors were friends i have always known. oh an i knew that alex would pick paige over carla i mean hello their like soulmates.

It does sound silly, but I really do get caught up on the lives of these characters. And even though JT wasn't one of my favorites, I did shed a tear when he was killed. It's weird now to watch old episodes and see how young he is and now how his fate will turn out. You do get this strange feeling and "connection" with the kids like they are your friends and you've grown up with them. Even watching the original Degrassi series and seeing how Joey, Snake, Spike and the rest turn out. I love the show.

I don't wanna say that I take Degrassi seriously. But I do have to say that it is a very emotional show. I did cry when JT died. It was so sad when they told all the people in the hospital. It was very moving. He was a great character. I wish he could have been able to stay. It really left alot of people hanging when he confessed that he still loved Liberty. It was like one huge NOOOO moment. lol

I use to like to watch it, but now I think that it is getting stupid.

Some of the most emotional things I felt had to have been when Paige was raped and the whole Rick/shooting incident. That was heartbreaking. At this point in the season, of course I had no friends, because these kids were all I ever talked about... it's as if I forgot it was just a TV show! haha!

I take it semi-seriously, but it depends on the episode and what's going on. When Jimnmy got shot - it was an issue that was SO well played-out and SO realistic that of course I cried - what a horrible twist to the fourth season. But I think we should keep in mind that a lot of the drama they have on the show is obviously not going to be as realistic as others - and because it's a teen DRAMA, they're of course going to have a lot of it.

I just find it funny that Degrassi producers make it their goal (or at least it seems this way) to touch base with EVERY SINGLE issue out there. I guess it's nice that they're trying to be thorough, but realistically, what kind of kids actually go through THIS many issues in their high school & college years? While a lot of it may be realistic, Degrassi is definitely an overexaggerated version of our every day lives.
