If pregnant women get sick, how will they take care of themselves?

I am most curious about how women take care of themselves when they’re sick or having a fever when they’re not supposed to be taking any medicines because it might affect the development of their baby. My mother used to tell me stories about her pregnancy and I asked how she managed to take care of herself when she’s sick since medicines aren’t allowed for pregnant women. I never got the answer that I was looking for because she said she had not experienced being sick or having a fever when she was pregnant.
For the mothers who have experienced being sick or having a fever during your pregnancy, how did you manage to take care of yourself and make yourself feel well without taking medicines? Or are there medicines which are not that harmful for the development of your baby inside your womb?

there are medicines that are safe to be used by pregnant women. but these are medicines for minor sickness only. if you experience anything serious, it better to check out with an ob gyne or your doctor and ask for advices before taking anything.

There are some medicines you can take while you're pregnant. You can take tylenol, and sudafed. Those are at least two over the counter meds that a pregnant woman can take. The doctor is also able to prescribe medicine. If you need antibiotics he can give you those, or whatever else he deems safe to take while pregnant.
