2. Sushicook (653) | 1 year ago | No horse headed book ends, but I do have one dragon headed! My book ends doesn't hold much significance to me at all, I don't need them all that much to be honest.

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Dragon headed bookends are neat, Sushicook. Do you use them for books or something else? Perhaps a door stop?
| |
Sushicook (653) | 1 year ago | I use them for books, mainly, but I'm thinking of using them to make my videogames not fall over instead.

3. yanjiaren (5128) | 1 year ago | I used to have some Harry Potter ones for my son's room but I don't know what happened to them lol.Since I divorced with my Hubby lots of his old things went..But I do love book ends and I would love to get some new ones with a meaning, especially an Historic meaning of some kind. I think bookends look really attractive on a book case don't you?

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Yes, yanjiaren, actually I do like bookends. I don't know why, but I do.

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Was this at a different time from when you busted your nose on a horses head, Calais? Beware the head and the butt together.

5. herrbaggs (732) | 1 year ago | I have some wooden bookends that look looke half a horse apple, does that count?
| |
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Of course it counts, herrbaggs. Surely you know that I wait with great expectations for all of your answers!!

WhatsHerName (1740) | 1 year ago | What the heck is a half horse apple?
| |
herrbaggs (732) | 1 year ago | A half a horse apple is just the opposit of a whole horse apple. A horse apple in some cultures is reffered to as meadow muffin. In polite society it is a description of a one side conversation with a native new yorker at a finger pulling event. A lot of horse crapp.

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | That was one of my two guesses, but I still played it safe, WhatsHerName.

6. dfn12968 (5580) | 1 year ago | Oddly enough I don't have any bookends. I don't know why, considering the amount of books I have. I may have to get some pretty soon, because my book shelf is rather full and I may need to put some books on the top of it.
| |
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Book ends are very useful for placing books on the top shelf, dfn12968.

7. diecaster (391) | 1 year ago | My grandfather had a pair of really beautiful brass horse head bookends, but alas, they went to my Aunt instead of my dad after my grandmother passed, thus one of my cousins now have them. Bookend envy is a terrible thing. However, I ended up with the Buffalo Bill bronze. Note: The above is, I realize, an example of crass materialism. Sorry.
| |
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Crass materialism is what makes the USA so great, diecaster. The Buffalo Bill bronze bookends sound great! Do you remember a silly movie from the early 1980's, called, Student Bodies? The shop teacher loved teaching students how to make horse headed bookends, and then he ended up being the serial killer killing all the students. He used horse headed bookends to kill them, and he left a horse headed bookend at every murder site. Just so you know, that's my inspiration for this Discussion.:)

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | You have no idea how much you have impressed me that you remember this movie, diecaster. Your esteem has risen much in my mind this day. The other thing I remember about the movie is that the blind guy's guide dog once drove the guy's car to school. It was a small part of the movie, but I've never forgotten it.
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | I just remembered another line from the movie. It's crass in itself, and I don't know why it just popped in my mind, but it did. The guy who speaks these words is talking about the shop instructor, "He probably sleeps with his nuts between some horse headed book ends."

8. PurpleTeddyBear (3204) | 1 year ago | Honestly hun I don't use book ends because I'm not a big reader and therefore don't own a whole lot of books. I did see a pair that I wanted though, but I bought them for a dear friend of mine as they were on sale, and believe me she likes to reaad lol. They were a pair of matching gargoyles, I almost wanted to start a book collection just so I could use them LoL, but in the end realized they were a better gift for her.
| |
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | AHHHH! You have matchiing gargoyle bookends, PurpleTeddyBear!! I have to get some. My driveway markers are Gargoyles.
| |
PurpleTeddyBear (3204) | 1 year ago | Actually Transdisc I ended up giving the gargoyle bookends to my friend as she has a book collection and I don't! That would be great to have gargoyles at the end of your driveway! Lucky $h!t LoL.

9. dopey22girl (3169) | 1 year ago | No...I don't even have any bookends. Lol I have a bookshelf and each of the shelves is completely stocked from front to finish, so the book ends I guess are the sides of the bookshelves. I saw some really cute A and Z ones today. I thought those were cool but they were very expensive.

Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | A to Z bookends sound cool, dopey22girl. I like your bookshelf bookends.;)

10. pyewacket (8553) | 1 year ago | I don't have any horse headed bookends, but I have the bookends from the special gift edition of the extended version of Lord of the Rings DVD---So that means I have the miniature Argonath statues from Fellowship of the Ring, and I have the special bookends from the special gift set of Chronicles of Narnia...that of the wardrobe and the lamp--as for significance....well--I loved the movies!!
| |
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | I bet the wardrobe and the lamp bookends are cute, pyewacket. I'm not as familiar with the LOR symbols, but I imagine that cute wouldn't adequately describe them, unless it is Gimley (is that you it's spelled?)
| |
pyewacket (8553) | 1 year ago | Are you thinking of Gimli the dwarf or Gollum the one who walked around saying he wanted his precious? meaning the ring of course
| |
Transdisc (14932) | 1 year ago | Not Gollum. Gimli, the good guy.
