Reading Slump  | | | |  Have you ever had a time in your life when you just didn't find reading interesting? I'm not talking about your entire life, for you people who don't like to read at all (: I mean, for true book lovers, has this ever happened? What book (if any) pulled you out of your reading slump?
About three years ago I became distressed to find that I did not enjoy reading as I once had. I'd find books that were supposed to be good, try to read them, but just couldn't get into it. They all seemed the same. Fortunately, at the suggestion of an online book review, I started reading "Sir Apropos of Nothing," a fun fantasy book with lots of "laugh out loud" humor. Since then I haven't had any periods in my life where I did not enjoy reading, even if there were times when I didn't have time to read for pleasure (when can anyone find time to read anything but school materials in college?)

I am in a reading slump right now for the first time in my life. I consider myself to be quite the reader, and I cannot remember a time when I don't have a book in my hand during any spare time. But since I've discovered myLot, I have found that I enjoy playing around on here so much that my reading has suffered. I think that I may have needed the break. It has been good for me, even though I do miss the reading.

Or enjoy your break ;) I do think maybe once in a while, it is good to take a break from a hobby, especially if it has been a very big hobby - it's nice to try something new! | |  I have always been a reader, but I have gone through times over the years when I have not read nearly as much as other times. I don't know if it was a slump necessarily or just too many other things going on. I have been on a consistant reading binge now for the last 5 years, I think, and the books that started it for me were the shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella. I went through a brit chic lit stage after that and it lasted until I started the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Now I read primarily romance but all different genres of romance; historical, futuristic, paranormal. I love it all. I still do read non romance books occaisionally, mainly historicals.
I agree with you on the college stuff. Since going back to school in 2004, finding the time to read anything but school stuff is a challenge, but if I don't, I'll lose my sanity, or what little I have.

(I mean, who doesn't want a super mysterious foreign guy to save you, be ordered to assassinate you, threaten your life, fall in love with you, decide not to assassinate you, and then marry you?)
