Prebought Greeting Cards |
|
Are you one of those people who "prestocks" Christmas, birthday, or any other greeting card? Like, you keep a few (or even a file!) around "just in case" you need a card real quick to give to someone? I know it sounds tacky and columns like "Dear Abby" always tell you not to, but do you? I must admit, I myself have a whole bunch of blank birthday and generic greeting cards (which I made myself) laying around just in case I don't have time to buy a card for someone or I forget until the last minute... Oops... What about you?

1. pamcake (246) | 3 years ago | I actually do. Some of them I bought to have on hand..just in case..and others I bought for a certain person..and they didn't get mailed out or even filled out..lol. I'm really bad about that! So I just put them with the others and I might use them sometime in the future...if I remember to!

2. coferbox (241) | 3 years ago | I like to buy birthday cards and other type cards based on the person I am buying them for. I will try to pick out something that would mean something to them. I pick out sentimental cards for some people, but for my best friends I pick out funny cards based on what I know will like.
But I do keep a few extra cards around 'just in case'. I would rather sent a 'just in case' card than not send one at all.

3. gmakesmoney (1038) | 3 years ago | I do! I have a Hallmark book that holds dates and has pockets for greeting cards, you get a page and pocket per month and then a few extras in the back. I have a huge family that lives all over the US, so it makes it easier for to to just look in there and do a group mailing during the month. I'm super forgetfull so this helps me out bigtime. I don't think it's tacky at all, I think it's just organized.

4. Rozie37 (7148) | 3 years ago | I do not buy them, but, I certainly have them. I have received lots of greeting cards from different charities over the years. They are good for a last minute situation. But, when I give a person a card, I like for it to be as personal and fitting to our unique situation or their as possible. I will either make a card from my American Greetings software or go to the store and really spend time shopping for the right card.

5. Nykkee (1425) | 3 years ago | Well I have a box of Christmas cards put away for next year but I would like to get a box of assorted greeting cards if I could find a box full that I liked, I think it would make things alot easier, I hate it when an occasion creeps me and then I have to scramble to get a card on the way to it.

6. JoyfulOne (4248) | 3 years ago | I always buy cards ahead and keep them on hand. Sometimes while I'm at the store I see a card and think gee, that would be nice for*** to get. Some I buy are generic (for anybody), some are more for kids, or friends, etc. I have a little metal file box that I keep them in. I have to laugh, lots of times a relative will remember that it's somebody's birthday at work tomorrow...ooooooops, and they forgot to pick up a card. They know that I always have some extras on hand; I only ask that they pick up a replacement at the Dollar store or something. (Works good in my family, lol)

7. sid556 (10710) | 3 years ago | I don't buy your typical greeting cards. What I do buy ahead on is the blank cards where I can write my own personal message or poem. I refuse to pay 4 to 5 dollars for someone elses words or thoughts. They would have to express my feelings exactly for me to do that. some do and i have done it but it is time consuming.

Ariander (478) | 3 years ago | That's how I feel as well, about the cards with someone else's words. I want all of the card to be in my own words (that's why I try to make my own when I have time) and those kinds of cards can be too expensive too (I mean, they are just pieces of paper with a photo/drawing and some (usually cheesy) poem or something... surely, even with paying the artists, production can't cost that much!) Blank cards are a nice idea too. I don't feel like I'm a good enough artist to draw anything on cards, so perhaps getting a blank one with a classy design on front (or maybe take a photo of your own and put it on front) would be a good idea...

8. jennybianca (6302) | 3 years ago | I keep a store opf blank cards for emergencies. These are generally not suitable for Christmas or Easter, but often are for birthdays & Mothers Day. They came in a box with beautiful flower scenes. Failing that, if I pay my daughter $1.00 per card, she will make me one. She makes some very pretty cards, with animals, etc on them.

9. kuirqs (287) | 3 years ago | I used to buy cards when they were on sale. I still have some left over from my impulsive buys before. They come in handy, so it's great to have them around. At one point, I was in a Christmas-tag-making streak so I have a stock of those too. They're pretty useful, my mother usually asks for them come holiday season.

10. MomOfAngel (123) | 3 years ago | I don't need to because I use an online service.
Whenever I want someone to have a card I just go to my account and pick out a card. Type in a personal message, add a photo, add my signature and click okay. Then the online company creates, stuffs, and mails the cards for me.
It's a big time savor and an excellent program.
let me know if you want the link.
