Problems in the neighborhood and TRAPPED! |
| |
| Me and my family are having so many problems in our neighborhood it is not even funny. What would you do if you were in this situation? Okay, first of all I live in the hood just to make that clear. I am on housing and have to wait until a certain date to actually move unless something circumstantial stepps in the way, and then I can move. 1) My toilets have been overflowing for two weeks now and the property manager (which by the way is the MAYOR!) wont fix the problem. We have to go doodoo in plastic bags and pee in cups. Talk about unsanitary!!!! I have three young kids! They are resulted back to the potty chair! I think that it is because of the pipe that leads to the outside front of my house and it has no cap on it and they refuse to put one on it. 2) The landscaper (which by the way is a crackhead) refuses to cut our grass anymore. He isnt cutting anyones except for the front yard! We could be fined and ticked for this! It is aobut 2 feet tall now! 3) We are having problems with the people in the neighborhood because they think that we are either snitches or we are a threat to their business. We are like one of the very few houses on this block that isnt doing something illegal (like selling drugs, etc.). 4) The landscaper keeps throwing rocks at our dog! And they arent just little rocks, they are bricks! My husband caught him one time and went to confront him and then the landscaper threatened my husband with a pistol! 5) The roach problem is just out of hand! No matter how much I bomb and get terminix out here we just cant get rid of them. I live in a duplex and I dont know how they keep their house next door and the biggest problem is it is all coming out of my pocket! THe property manager refuses to fix the issue! 6) Now the drug dealers down the street (2 houses down) are steeling my cabel and tapping into my phone! I have called Charter to come out here and check it but I cant press charges due to the fear of retaliation! Now with all of these problems I cannot press charges or call the police because that will just worsen matters where I live. We have to wait for the approval of housing before we can move, and We are stuck! Even if I did make a police report, the mayor (property manager) has the police in his pocket! The dispute would be disregarded! Nothing would be done. He even knows that the people are selling drugs and refuses to avict them! What would you do in this case?

| | I know it may not be an option for you right now or for a while, but I would move. If the landlord, landscaper, neighborhood is going down the tubes, then I would find a suitable one that does take care of its tenants. That is just me. I would not tolerate being treated like that at all. | | | | | | |

| | That is the thing, we have been trying to move but housing wont let me. They say that we have to file a police report! If we file a police report then that would just tip off all of the people in the neighborhood and our problems will be worse. | | | |

| | If I was you I would look into an income based apartment. They are controled by the state and they have to meet certain standards. When I was a single mother I lived there and had no problems. There are no drugs because that will get you kicked out immediately. They don't even have to see it just hear about it. The landlord reports to the state so they keep everything nice and clean. There are noise ordinances and here the cable company checks there wires every month or so and they charge the other people not you. I wish you the best of luck. | | | | | | |

| | Even the duplex has to meet certain standards and the standards would be the same if I were in an apartment or not. We have done the apartment life and do not like it. There is no privacy at all and atleast in a duplex there is a little more privacy. We were looking for a house or duplex or townhome. Thanks for wishing me luck. We'll see how it goes. | | | |

| | OMG, I'm shocked to hear how you have to live. I wouldn't be able to put up with all that. Is there any family you can move in with for a while. Thats not a very good place for your kids either. You really need to get out of there. | | | | | | |

| | I would just move. You are not safe there. How long do you think it will be till your approved? I wouldn't stay in that place. You could all get sick as bad as that is. The mayer is prob. in on the drugs getting sold. He must be gettibg a kickback. | | | | | | |

| | That is what we were thinking. Why else would the MAYOR not evict someone that he knowingly knew was selling drugs. I am still waiting on my phonecall from the housing office director. We'll see. For all I know it could be a while or immediate. | | | |

| | Golly if I were in that situation I woud call housing and tell them about how unhealthy this is for my kids. I assume the toilet thing is so the solids can go in the trash? We used to have one outdoor loo shared by a house of four families when I was small and we used chamber pots but ofcourse they could be emptied straight down the toilet afterwards. Isn't there an environmental health department? Couldn't you take photographs of the roaches and the grass to prove how awful it is and how unhealthy? Landlords must come under somebody's thumb even if the landlord is the mayor. I wonder how he would feel to see his own property featured in a newspaper or on TV with him being named as the owner. | | | | | | |

| | I am waiting for housing to call me back with the chance for me to expalin everything and the health issues. Last time I talked with them they wanted me to make a police report but that would only cause more problems. The mayor is the property manager not the owner, but I am going to write the owner about this and give a copy of the letter to housing too. | | | |

| | so far you have given the best advice. i would say these people need help, but you also have to help yourself and by calling these numbers is the very first step. we don't know all the background facts, but surely the state could step in somehow, unless there are warrants, or felony charges against them. something is not right with this story. more facts would be abundantly helpful. if there is time to be posting there is time to get some help. good luck. | | | |

| | lpetges, This is the best way that I could describe what is going on. And Yes, bonbon had given the best answer. THanks. These people need mental help becuase if one of these crazies decides to shoot my house up one of the bullets could hit one of my kids! That is serious! I will definately be calling these numbers too thanks. I called the housing director yester and they said that he had 24 hours to get back wiht me, well since he didnt call, my husband and I both are going to go up to his office and speak with him in person about this. I dont know the background facts either with these people so we are both lost with that. I dont know of any warrants or felonies either. What dont you think is not right with this story either? These are all of the facts that I have. I dont know what else to tell you. and "if there is time to be posting there is time to get some help." I cant spend the whole day calling people who dont answer their phones and return calls. I can just keep calling once an hour and leave a message. That dosent take up too much time. bonbon, I have marked you best answer becuae you actually provided me with some real help and phone numbers. Thank you sincerely! You would think that the department of health would be able to do something so I will definately check into it!!
